My personal opinion. Regarding hockey players. Their elevator doesn’t quite make it to the top floor.Morgan Barron took over 75 Stitches, the Winnipeg Forward for the Jets, even came back out to play in the next period after getting stitched up...

At one of my uncle's wake, I was in the line with his best friend when they were kids. We were discussing how hockey players could play a game after losing a tooth or getting stiches, and baseball players would miss six games due to a hang nail. This was the result of several photos of my uncle when he was a goalie in the 50's playing with no mask that were displayed on easels in the funeral home. Later at the bar, we continued the conversation. We were discussing a few of the prima donnas of the day, such as Roger Clemens and "Oil Can" Boyd. My cousins were listening in, and after Joe insisted on paying my tab (your money's no f'ing good kid), my cousins said "Dude! You're never paying for a drink in this bar again." I asked why, and they said Joe never opens up about the Red Sox the way he did with me. I said, "Yeah it's your dad's buddy Joe." Their replies were "Joe Mxxxxx, THE Joe Mxxxxx, as in ex-manager of the Red Sox." It's probably best I didn't know who he was outside of the small family connection, as we would have never had as much fun chatting. Saw him a few times later, and he always bought me a beer while greeting me with a big hello. Usually he would scream across the bar "Get that long haired freak whatever the fvck he wants!"
**edit** I thought I would X Joe's last name to avoid having my comments show up in a google search. Any baseball fan from that era will know who I'm talking about.

Talking about tough guys in Hockey, the late great! Johnny Bower. Who played in the days before the masks came to be. As a goaltender he had been hit in the face many many times and suffered many face lacerations. Watched him many times as a kid growing up. He passed away in 2017 R.I.P Johnny.
