Hernia Surgery

Good luck on the table. Hopefully you wake up to a hot nurse and the healing is quick!

Good luck, Bro, Steve

And HAHA Ghostman, this happened to me when I woke up after my surgery to remove a 3 inch nail I shot right through my bone at the base of my right big toe and the point stuck out the middle of the ball of my foot.

I was talking to the nurse who it turned out went to my high school like 7 years ahead of me. It also turned out she was the daughter of the brick mason who was doing all the masonry work on the jobsite the day I had my mishap. When I got back to that site a few weeks later, he mentioned she told him about " this guy" who had shot a nail through his foot,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and dad said he had heard about that. LOL

I also had inguinal hernia repair about 5 years ago. I was in and out no problem. I never take any opioids no matter what, so it was Motrin for me. I was only in mild pain a couple of days.

I can still feel the mesh anytime I press on the area. It doesn't hurt or anything and I'm not limited in what I do at all.

Good luck to you!

Just got the call, my check in time is 6:45am.

I want to thank you all for the replies sharing your experience, advise and well wishes. I'm glad I made the thread, I feel a lot better about the whole thing and I'm not nearly as anxious now. I'll let you know how it goes.

Sp8ctre, I have a couple hernias, I surmise and well, my Dr. noticed too. One is where my belly button is too and the other is up higher up below my chest. Neither one hurts 24/7 or hardly at all even. Hard to say what my best course of action is as to when to get any surgery or not.

I will be praying for you, Steve. No pain and easy recovery.

Late to the party.....

Glad it went well, heal up soon!
Dont read the "Funny" threads on the forum!

I had hernia surgery 20+ years ago for a a tear very low on the abdomen. Dont know what type it is / the name for it.
I got the mesh. It healed up fine.

The recovery was very painful for a few days; and then progressively less over time.
Any kind of torso movements involve those muscles.
Dont rush the recovery, it will make things harder than they have to be.

I had percocet and took them as needed / as little as possible.
Make me feel spacey and unable to concentrate.

I have some kind of wrap that I have to leave on for 48 hours. It's like one of those back brace things for heavy lifting. It wraps around and has velcro to hold it. I don't know what you call it. It's definitely helping keep pressure on it so moving around and even coughing is not bad at all. I just feel like I've done too many sit ups or something. Much better than I expected, which is what I was hoping for.

When my dad had surgery on a high hiatal hernia when he was probably late 30s early 40s…. Once he was home and recouping…… well let’s just say as a word of warning to you. One night my brother and I as well as mom got the chuckles at something stupid on tv. Seriously, it wasn’t that funny. Which dad laughed at too. He also had a girdle on to help support his innards in place. He’d laugh…. Go ouch…. Which made us laugh harder…. Which of course made him laugh harder….. repeat. He was just short of begging us not to make him laugh. Hopefully your family will be a little more caring.

My family's not like that...thankfully. I did chuckle at something on tv earlier, I won't be doing that again.
