CONFESSIONS OF A LUNATIC-- (or a bass player same thing) --
I dont LIKE heavy GLOSS on guitars/basses...there I said it -- on OPEN FORUM --- let the SLING and arrows fly!

really--
I have the Melody Maker -- and OLD BUTT Peaveys and Gibbos -- the NEW "satin" finish Gibbos FEEL closest to the actual 60's and 70's Gibsons I have --- and I LOVE that feel
the PEavey T-series have a NATURAL wood finish -- like a end table or something NOT this 1/2" thick STICKY gloss that Gibson (and worse FENDER) apply to NEW guitars... these maybe fine and good in the Northern NON HUMID climates but frankly here in the STICKY humidity belt of SWAMP-O-PATAMIA -- the glos just, well STICKS/SUCKS to your skin......................

now the question (and heresy) is there a way to MAKE THIS

NO-- Im not going to RELIC it or BEAT THE CRAP out of it with a chain -- but -- I must admit the favorite NEW finish to me on a GIBBO is the Satin -- which FEELS more like my OLD BUTT Gibsons....but I dont want to WAIT 30 or 40 ....er or 50 friggin years (HELL I WONT BE HERE) for the Firebird to FEEL like my 62 EBO (which feels AMAZING and wonderful and makes me just want to touch it,,.....an..an... and rub.....and ,,,,,,,,,,,,fondle............................

Since you play bass would you be interested to lay down bass on my new song im working on and maybe we could get some one from TTR to sing it who is willing to sing?
What you think do you have time or do you want to?

I think my brain is having another bad night... Please explain further!
If you want to adhere another coat of lacquer or poly to a cured coat, you are correct that you need to prep the surface so the new coat will adhere. I wipe the surface with naptha, then use 400 grit so that the surface is "scuffed" in all areas. I use scuffed as opposed to sanded because the goal is not so much to remove layers as to create an uneven surface to which the new coat can adhere. After the "scuffing" you could wipe with naptha again, but many recommend that you just clean with a tacky cloth so as not to introduce a substance on the surface that may affect how the new coat is applied

Just dip it in Acetone, that will fix everything.

Oh wait a second, do you have a bead blaster?
