Hendrix Chord Tricks

That was cool. It really is amazing how one hammer-on creates instant Hendrix.

My fingers are not real long so its hard for me to do that thumb over tricks.ill try it on different guitars.

That Stevie Snacks dude is the Texas Blues Alley site guy.
His free stuff is heavy sales pitch for the pay site BUT I learned some cool Ablert King licks in the free part of one of them, and need time to go get more.

Yup, I've tried the thumb technique many times, just doesn't feel comfortable for me. There are certain times where I can use it, but mostly not.

So my Fender Tele has a better neck to pratice this type of chord fingering.go figure huh.also this caused me to google Hendrixs Little Wing chords. so comming off the Em to the G this type of chord is where one gets that Jimi tone.so i been dinkin around with this.im just tryin to figure it out.that and you tube :).the main thing is this thread sparked my intrest in learning and playing guitar .plus its a good excuse to use the front pickup .

I may be confused (as is often the case) but I think he says he prefers the grip type fingering over the traditional barre chord fingering.
The progressions, strummed chords, hammer ons, and picked notes while holding those chords are the lesson, not the thumb over grip fingering.
Thats what I got out of it, but maybe you cant play what he was showing using the traditional barre with the index finger fingering.
I didnt try it so I dont know.

He also mentions he is playing A flat at the 5th fret, and in other lesson videos I have watched / learned some licks, he says he is tuned a half step down.
I may have missed it but I dont think he mentioned it in this video.
I'm pretty sure SRV tuned that way most always; just googled it and Jimi did too. So, maybe it is assumed I should have known this.
