Blink and I have been talking a while about getting a bass. Thing is we real know poop about them. Well I guess there is 4 strings.

It would be useful to know more about them. I'm intrested in a fender squire P bass but figured there was same or better qualities out there.

Guidance would be appreciated

CV (Classic Vibe) Squires are EXCELLENT "P" basses---
the "Affinity" ones are hit an miss but you can score a good one for DAMN LITTLE $ if you care to search a bit--
Are you shopping NEW or used?
-- they are totally serviceable "stock" but a pup swap and you can achieve sonic BOOMSVILLE with ease on the affinity -- the CV should need little or nothing -- AND youc an SCORE a MIM used -- for around the same (or less if you go to the opium dens) as a new CV.

I scored THIS beastie
blue p bass.jpg
bone stock Squire affinity "P" for a PRINCELY sum of 50.00 at a local opium den and whoopie emporium....cash out the door

it is HANDS DOWN one of the best playing "P" basses Ive ever rubbed junk on.

they make great MOD platforms if you so wish -- and frankly youc ant buy the DAMN WOOD and hardware to make one for 50.00

Hey, LRT......

Check this out!

We should go halfsies on this and then take him out drinkin' with us!!

CV-Classic Vibe series can be pretty nice, solid, players...especially the older series(they stopped for a few years, and just brought them back last year)
While the CV line was gone, they had the VM-Vintage Modified line that was fairly comparable.
I still kick myself for not picking up a VM Jazz that played like butter...I tried it in a music store used section, but wasn’t sure the price was fair because I had not educated myself thoroughly in the current different Squier trim levels. Turned out the price was fair, not stellar, but it played wonderfully for me.

Mim P..put 1/4 pounders in or get an active EQ Ibby for the metal stuff..i keep an Ibby around for the metal jobs..they just get you in the mix if needed live with that lil eq boost built in

do fair amount of studio bass wrk over the last few years, i have to have these

Jazz
P
Ibby

thats all i need..if all metal the Ibby...all rock/lil metal/motown a P & a jazz. for speed runs/crazy funk or octave work - mid grind-
