Well this is anew one on me-----

I decided I wanted to SHIM the neck of my Dean Sarasota semi hollow --great little Korean made Casino Coupe sized geetar

I determined after several (you love this word Ray) adjustments that I needed to SHIM the neck a tad.

So I loosened the strings and proceeded to unscrew the neck plate screws........obviously my time in the gym has paid off as I snapped the head off the first screw with almost little to NO effort......

That is the head of the screw and the strap button on the deck......and the shaft still in the guitar......

So -- me being me -- I tuned it back up --- and well it plays fine and holds tune.....

But the HELP is to determine--- HOW do I get that thing out?!?!?

Remove the other 3, and pray that the shaft of the sheared comes out of the body leaving something sticking out of the neck that you can grab with vice grips etc.

Worth a shot--- I been playing it for 45 minutes.....its seemingly unaffected....I'lll probably mess with it this weekend....there MIGHt be enough there to grab........perhaps ......ugh

Similar to Don's comment.
Remove the three, pull neck from body up and along the broken stud. Should be easy to remove the broken stud with neck removed.

threds of broken screw are still in the neck and the body...

The broken stud should pass through a SLIGHTLY oversize hole in the neck and only screw into the body.
If it screwed into the neck and body it couldn't tighten or pull the neck to the body.

EDIT.
Sorry, got that the wrong way around.
Should pass through the body and only screw into the neck.

I think you mean the other way around...shank of the screw should pass through the body with threads secure in the neck only. His could be just stuck in a tight pocket, perhaps originally set in before the paint completely cured.

If you can dimple it on exact center, you could drill it out...

It should just need a push.

Yeah I saw my mistake and have already corrected it with an edit.
Bottom line, remove the other 3, pull the neck away from the body at 90' and the problem should be 90% sorted.

for the moment it is fine.....it plays and holds tune and intonation......I'll attempt tomorrow evening......or this weekend...... you maybe right loosening the other 3 and just "coaxing" it out ....however the screw on that position is longer than the others.....it held the strap lock as well.....and I am not convinced the threads are not in both neck and body possibly only a COUPLE in the body but still enough to create "issues".

The cat is asleep on my work table.......and I dont have the patience after the work a day B.S. to "calmly and gently" work on a guitar---- I tried to do so as a relaxation exercise...and well......snapped screw.......very NON relaxing......

Think about this ...
If it's threaded in the body as my rough drawing shows the countersunk head (I drew hex head) will tighten onto the body and never be able to tighten the gap between the two parts no matter how large or small.
