HELP! Someone Relocated Me to the UK...

Strange how the history of Humberstone in Leicestershire and Humberston in Lincolnshire are the same...

Scottish: habitational name from Humeston near Cumnock in Ayrshire.
 
My ancestor is the founder of Sunday Schools ( Robert Raikes) and i have a cousin who was the CEO of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation ( Jeff Raikes). Pretty ironic when you look at me down the line lol my family's name was and still is RAIKES. But when they hit the US in Buckingham, VA from Pembrokeshire, Wales in 1750, the name split into both Rakes and Raikes but we are all the same group.


My dad had our family crest made on a single sheet of Rosewood a few years ago and it sits above his mantle. The motto is : Honestum Praeferre Utili or To Prefer The Honest to The Profitable.
