A good friend has a 1976 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe, shown in the photo below:



He wants to replace the bridge pickup with stacked, humbucking variant that won't require routing and will give humbucker-esque punch.

Suggestions???

DiMarzio has a few cool direct, drop in replacements. Namely the classic Super Distortion and the DLX series which is a more all around humbucker

Nothing wrong with the stock Gibson mini humbuckers that thing is a eye sore with the P90.

The P90 in this guitar has been in there since the 1970's. The Nashville bridge was added recently when the ABR-1 just corroded away.

I don't have the guitar here at the moment. How do you think that bridge soapbar is mounted???

I have before.
I routed the body and installed full sized Gibson Humbuckers.
I like Gibson Pickups better.

The Charlie Christian PU works well for strats.

I have a Fralin in my white Jr. not a hum canceling one, just a stock P-90 style. The Fralin is surprisingly quiet compared to my other single coil and P-90 equipped guitars.

Please, for the love of all things holy, do not let anyone take a router to that guitar. It deserves to be returned to as close to stock as possible.
