I have had those situations with clients and call them out on it right away every time, then compromise from there.
I NEVER let anyone blame me for a mishap like that without pushing back, tactfully but firmly.
I will work with them to get things back on target, but wont let them take advantage of me.

I keep it short so it doesnt devolve into a pissing contest.
It goes against the "customer is always right" of glad handing clients, but my time and money is just as important as theirs.

If I am at fault I fess up to it and make it right.
I go out of my way to make sure everyone is clear on the details, etc. to avoid it in the first place.

For example, I commonly employ a method when setting up Craigslist type meet-up - always at a public place if possible -whether I am buyer or seller.
Factoring in travel time, I prefer to text, rather than verbal as there is a record of it - "I will text you an hour or so before our meeting to confirm it is still on / we are both on time, etc. If I dont hear back from you, I will not show. Please reply that you got this message".

A bit anal? Perhaps.
Effective? Very much so.

I'm taking my wife to the hospital this morning. She isn't well, I think the stress of our situation has possibly broken her. She doesn't even drink or use drugs or anything at all but the past couple of weeks she has been spending all of her time in a bottle and then lashing out at me and everyone else around her....waking up sick, and rinse, lather, repeat. It hurts to watch.

That's it. I've seen enough. I am going to get this poor girl some help. Even if she rejects me, I will check her in against her will if need be.

2020 is just a complete fukkin bull:poo: year and like I said in my first post in this thread, it just seems like one thing after another. Needless to say, our hunt for a new place has been....delayed.

Meanwhile, I finally have a lead on a good new job that I actually have a good shot at getting and it doesn't involve 16 hour days in a potato truck.

hey my brother im sorry to hear about everything you guys go through as a family. i hope she will get help she needs and like other have said above keep ploughing through like kill shovel machine , once you are other side take holiday even if you dont go anywhere just stay at home and relax refresh.

@jtcnj I've had the owner of this piano store as a client for over 20 years back when everything was hand coded. They brought on an advertising agency 15 years ago that designs their printed, TV, radio and social media advertising. The advertising company persuaded the owners to use WordPress so they can update the site them selves. I lost that income. There was a piano school website of theirs and that too went to WordPress. I do have the online store built with a real shopping cart program and he wants to use woo commerce plugin for WordPress so he can take that over too. Woo commerce is fine for a small sell from home site, but there are hundreds of products with many custom features that the owner wanted that Woo can't do. I'm struggling to hold on the this 20+ year customer and keep that income coming in. I think he may just be trying to get me pissed off and quit so he can take it all over. Not gonna happen.
