Both my Dad and Father in Law served. Both too young for WW2 but not Korea. Both were fortunate. Dad serviced his Army active in Germany and Father in Law was Navy in Boston. My Dads best friend was killed in Viet Nam. Two brother in laws served Navy in the 60/70s. Two nephews served. Both deployed to the Middle East. Both came home. One is still with us. The other stepped out of a moving car at 50mph and died. Pretty sure PTSD played into that one. I was not old enough by a couple years for Viet Nam.
All that to say. I do not take the sacrifices of people that served or are serving, lightly.
My dad was one of six boys. Five of them served in WWII. The eldest, Jack was KIA in 1944 in the Pacific, he was a B-25 pilot. My older brother enlisted in 1968 in the Army. I was too young for Vietnam by a few years.
I bought this flag at the pier side Arizona memorial at Pearl Harbor in 2013. I bought it in honor of uncle Jack, whom I obviously never knew. They let me fly it over the Arizona and the next day on the Missouri. It is one of my most prized possessions.
