Happy birthday janis

Miss her great singing, but I always wonder why people say happy birthday to the dead...they no longer have birthdays...

I also wonder how it is possible for a guitar player to get better
after he/she dies but that seems to happen a lot too.
That is priceless. Thou shant not speak bad of the dead!

So to be the exception that proves the above rule, I could not stand Janis' brand of "singing". Oh, and I know I will pay for this one, but it would have been nice if Hendrix just played guitar and let someone else have the "experience" of singing, at least once in a while.

I'll go even one further that I don't really love Hendrix and Most Clapton does nothing for me...I'd rather listen to Keef...

It is an honesty festival! Ok, I will keep it going. I would listen to Clapton over Hendrix, and...hang on...Angus has more soul than talent. Duck!

Wow. Couldn't disagree more on both counts

OMG. I'm now officially speechless. "Clapton is God."

I'm more of a Peter Green is God sort of guy...but Peter Green dropped too much acid, saw god and did a disappearing act for a couple decades...Eric Clapton just got coked out and boring...

Clapton.

I feel free
Fresh Cream
First song on the first album

The final 12 notes of the solo
Listen to them
Nothing Eric ever did before or since even remotely comes close.
He should have just played those 12 notes and stopped instead of
wasting the next 50 years trying and failing to reach that peak again.

As for Jimi...
He was good
Really good.
Forget about the solos.
Just listen to the rhythm tracks.

Janis sang kinda, sort of gospel style to the blues. It was very different. It depends on your taste in music I think. Undeniably she sang from the heart. That's what I liked about her. When she sang, she layed out all that pain that she had. It was that pain that made her different. It's also what led to her death (that, and a ton of drugs). Just my opinion...

I am on no way shape or form questioning Jimi's talent or ingenuity on the guitar. I was just talking about listening preference..
