Thanks to everyone who came aboard this thread and wished me a Happy Birthday. I did have a good one.
You only turn 77 once (I think). Here's a clip from the N.E. Michigan Drum circle where I went with my wife and
daughter and her husband and a bunch of other percussion junkies.
Note: I tried to upload the original file here, but it's too big. I did upload it on twit face on the site of the
N.E. Michigan Drum Circle. Let's see if I can load the link here:
All right, it's taking a long time... I'll post this just as a thank you
and come back and add the link later.
Haha... well I posted the durn video on the N.E. Michigan Drum Circle's page on twit face...
Twitface processed the video so that it's prolly smaller than what came off my phone, shot by my daughter.
Anyway, here is a link to the twit face site, my real name is Michael Hough, so you can find my post if
you're interested in percussion done by real people, not big stars.

Oh, brother... It looks like you need to log into twit face if you want to see the N.E. Michigan Drum Circle's page.
Well and so. I don't expect too many too many metal heads to be interested in percussion on the shore of Lake Huron,
about as far from an electrical outlet as we were from any cell phone reception.
But let me remind you...
this is the real thing.
People have been making music this way for a hundred thousand years, or more... maybe since before we were
actually people. We prolly began by tapping rocks together by the fire. In the video I could NOT post, I'm playing
an old log with three branches sticking out. Each branch has a different tone. My colleagues in the drum circle were
playing a djembe, and a Native American Pow Wow drum, and others in the circle were playing other djembe drums
as well as shaman style frame drums, Cajone drum, shakers... it was a moment in time for sure.
Are you interested yet? *grins
It was my 77th birthday, or near it anyway. So I get to insist in a gentle way.
If you can navigate your way there, I believe it's worth it, because we were all having so much fun.
That's about it. We weren't professional at all, I am RETIRED!...
I've paid my dues.
So now I get to have some fun. No money changed hands this day... It was just music
and percussion and the waves and the wind and each other.
To me, that's important. Money was not an issue this day. I know, I know, we all need our stack.
And I'm sure I made hundreds of dollars during my career as a musician: 1963-2019...
But here it's just music. Nobody selling nothing. Nobody buying. In case you forgot:
Money is the root of all evil...
Enjoy, if you can. Drumming brings me great joy. Happy birthday to ME...
and hey! ... admission is free.
