This one was just a rolling wave. Nothing compared to the jolt we got a few months ago when we were the epicenter.

We had a quake near Philly a few years ago. It went up the coast from VA. It shook the windows at work. Here's a picture of the damage...

Nah, we get nice polite ones that just drop in for tea. We do occasionally see a good one but not often. And of course our building codes mean that houses are rather less likely to fly off to Kansas than those in the States.

I'll stay in New England. The occasional blizzard is tame in comparison. They sure beat tornadoes, earthquakes, and hurricanes. Even though we do occasionally have to deal with some of them. Just not with the frequency or intensity.

I wouldn't have guessed that either. But it makes sense considering the land area compared to the vast open plains of the Midwest US.
Tornado Alley gets higher numbers overall, I'm sure, but they're spread out over a region covering hundreds of thousands of square miles.

An earthquake certainly is a new way to celebrate Independence Day, with Mother Earth taking part.
Instead of fireworks... Earth-works!
Hopefully not destined to become a regular part of the yearly festivities.

I saw an article proposing a link between eclipses and subsequent earthquakes.
Not so sure there's a real connection, but the author cited some statistics that seemed to show a correlation.
And there was that total eclipse visible in Chile just two days before.

Of course, you can find statistics to support any proposition if you look hard and are selective enough.
