hand wired VS machine made

Sweetwater
$2200 Hand Wired Eyelet board
$1100 PC board
I would want the hand wired. It's a lot easier to maintain. Easier to modify.
But I see your point with the $1100 difference...
The PC board is made by robots and wave soldered, like a Mesa Boogie.
But it's definitely getting into the high dollar category for HW, sure.

The alnico speaker in the handwired Princeton is about $100 more costly than the ceramic speaker in the cheaper Princeton. I think the handwired Princeton at $2500 is about $500 overpriced for what it is, and compared to other boutique amps of same power and features.

The only PCB excluding PA amps I own are bass and a Mesa MK3 100 they are crap to work on they don't sound good ether.

Funny how life works out had an agent seen me play on the 4th of July good audience around 10.000 1/4 of our town
see how it goes has been badgering me the last few days. Home base Zurich tempting. But new band will see how we get along.

It's a though whoever built it assumed that it would never need to be serviced or repaired...(typical of Randell Smith) :pound-hand:of course they break just a often as any other amp does or more.
Then you need to spend 5 hours, un-solder 50 wires, and take the board completely out, to change a $2 relay. Then resolder all the wires to put it back together....until the next time it breaks.
They won't use relay sockets---to turn a 5 hour job into a 10 minute job....noooooooooooo.
