So, there is a lot of wisdom in here. However, Guthrie often fails to explain things in detail. I don't think it is because he intends this for the advanced player only, I just think that he simply knows it well enough that he takes certain information for granted - and the video is already 25 minutes!
I mention this not as a critique of Guthrie, who so generously shares his vast knowledge. Rather, it occurred to me that I would not have a chance of understanding what he meant if I had not studied modes, scales, CAGED, chord building, and other basic theory. It is much easier to absorb lessons and wisdom when you speak the language. He drives his point home in the back end of the video. Enjoy.
