Guitars and BEER!

The Oktoberfest is underway.

This ongoing collaboration series has been mostly great, with a few not as much. They nailed it this year.

Get some before it goes away. Is just a tad hoppier than those in Bavaria, but still has that biscuity malt flavor.

Bock beers are for May. You should be drinking Oktoberfest now.
The dunkels (Celebrator) arrive in late winter. The blond Maibocks are indeed for May.

I am a simple man of simple tastes.

I liked simple American brews and Stratocasters. I still like Stratocasters.

When I quit drinking, the presidents of Miller Brewing Company and Jose Cuervo both called me, saying they had kids in college and mortgages to pay, and my abstinence was destroying their respective companies’ bottom line.

But I drank enough between 1984 and 1998 (ages 14-28) to keep several brewers and distillers financially sound.

I figure I’ll start drinking again in 2061. My liver will have caught up by then. Of course, if I’m still alive by then, I’ll be 91, so this may not actually happen.

They don’t make money off me. Bought a 6 pack of Sammy Octoberfest and year ago. Just drank the last one a month ago…. Just in time to purchase this years Octoberfest.

I grew up in a wine village in Germany. I do like German wine and beer, as well as French wine. I love the taste of those, they are all simple old school libations, and I really do not like to get drunk. As much as I like my monthly or bi-monthly (every two months) snifter of schnapps, gin and tonic, or Margarita, I never took a fancy to hard liquor. I can't remember when I had any of those, so it must be more than two months now. I honestly have always been deathly afraid of becoming an alcoholic or developing health issues that would prevent me from drinking my hometown wine. Whenever I go back home to visit, I usually bring home about 8-10 bottles of wine from the local vintner who is a close friend of the family for a few generations. In the glory days of non-revenue air travel (pre 9/11) for me, my carry on luggage was always two cases of my hometown wine.

I'm sorry to hear that Miller and Cuervo lost a huge revenue source, but I'm happier for you. Maybe when you turn 91, you'll be in a frame of mind to relax and enjoy it in moderation.

Anyways, I just got through doing some slight revoicing mods to the Deluxe 5E3 clone I slapped together a few months ago. Results are awesome. Celebrated with the finest of West Coast brewed IPA's...
