I’m not going to wade through all this political talk. I am a leftist with a PhD in political science and I’m sure I can find something here to be upset about but I am trying to keep these forums about music.

I will say only this: flapping your mouth about social and political issues in the media when nobody has asked for it undermines your company, unless your target market is political. This Fulltone clown is obviously stupid or mentally ill and now people don’t want to sell his overhyped and overpriced stuff because its viability is all about the image attached to it. It’s become a bad risk and you can’t blame companies for running a mile from him. There’s no ‘PC Brigade’ forcing them to do it. People will buy want they want to buy, and be seen with who they want to be seen with. Personally I wouldn’t want to be associated with this dude or give him money

Yeah I’ve had it for nearly two decades. You can tell that I am a leftist and a political theorist because nobody would give me an academic job of any ongoing sort, hence the unemployment, depression, and lack of wife and children. Despite what some idiots think about academia being some (((world state))) conspiracy dedicated to making everyone transgender vegans there really isn’t any money in it if you’re not prepared to be a sellout and sell degrees to lazy rich kids

Holy feces, dude! In California you would be living like a king with a harem... :flash:

No seriously I would not, you really need to have done it yourself I guess. A lot of people referred to as 'professors' are actually poorly paid casuals who are faking it under the delusion that they will one day make it. There is a hell of a lot of anxiety, depression, unemployment, drug abuse, and suicide among PhDs. One 'professor' I knew took a walk in the Blue Mountains one day and never came back. He jumped off a cliff. There are a lot of people in California in the same boat.

Just do a simple bit of mathematics. Assume that each tenured academic gets two new PhD candidates to supervise every year. Or even one. Or even one every two years. Now assume the same academic has a career of twenty or thirty years. Let's assume that the person has a poor strike rate and only ten PhDs is the result. How many full-time academic jobs do you think become available when that professor retires?

Welcome to your new job at Starbucks ...

I had a salesman working for me for a short time -- had 2 PHD's -- was from Canada -- was a really nice guy-- very DRY Canadian sense of humor--(THIS WAS BACK IN THE LATE 80's early 90's)--he and I got along great. Was in his 50's back then his wife worked at the local college in Administration.
He couldnt find a job.........in MOBILE AL. (no surprise-- if you arent born into the right family in that town you only get so far) anyway-- dont recall what his 2 PHD's were in --1 may have been political science, and maybe something in History or.....education----anyway he lasted as a salesman about 4 months ---I had the owner of a Ford Dealership literally call me and threaten to SHOOT HIM ON SITE if he set foot on his property again.....
---Seems "being polite and chummy" David asked the man about the (then) Shut downs/layoffs at the Canadian Ford plant and how he felt about it ---(thinking he was "talking on his level)--the owner (Alabama Good Ol Boy) wasnt impressed to say the least.
David was highly intelligent ......no people skills.

I retired as a Director of Systems Engineering at a defense firm here in So CA In January. Had 50 engineers working for me and around 10 had PhDs (1 was a woman). All great folks. Not one of them wanted to be called Doctor.
