Awesome...
The thing jamming along to cover songs teaches you timing.
Many can learn the mechanics of the guitar, but fail to work on timing.
Playing along to a recording teaches you the art of precise timing, so when you get out to the club, you can deal with the drunken drummer speeding up and nobody notices the change because you have learned to "hear the train a comin."
Oh yeah friend, you are correct! You've heard me too? LOL! And when I sit down to record in the DAW, this becomes readily apparent, particularly when I try to lay down a bass track. If I could be a SuperHero, I would have super duper timing, and call myself Captain Quantize LOL -
I do wonder if playing to my own poorly rhythmic looper tracks could be locking in or accentuating my bad rhythm tendencies/capabilities.
I do do some backing track work. At least you don't have to stop while the person who thinks they are very sexy shouts out some bad poetry for a while.
But, this is just for you @Jethro Rocker , so keep it under your hat The truth of it all is I am currently working for Premier Moe on a Top Secret new randomly polyrhythmic music genre he wants to call "Saska." It will never be used for general enjoyment, or a coming wave, sadly. The intended use is as a mild form of punishment which he hopes will be utilized in prisons, for inter-provincial warfare & counter-terrorism measures, and also to annoy the Trudeau and his evil minions.
