Got a bunch of new guitars and amps today.

AT,,,,, congrats on the new gear.

I have purchased a few higher priced guitars and a few $225-$400 USD ones. I have given thoughts to selling my expensive ones and keeping the cheaper ones like you mentioned doing too. But then my enablers,,,,, talked me down and out of making the mistakes and regretting sale of unique pieces like my 1976 Cream color SG STD.

Economically, it makes sense to keep buying $700-$900 guitars for $250 and letting the ones I paid $700+ go bye bye. If I can break even or make more on a few sales, I think I would have no regrets. My thought is what do I have to lose? Especially if ones that get sold off are easily replaceable such as Strats and others they made a boat load of.

Yes, my thoughts too. I would never sell my 1977 Strat and I would be hard pressed to sdll my 1978 Ibanez but the rest are fair game. My Gibson SG is a 2011 Standard, a really good SG but not extraordinary. The Burny is actually nicer built and better finished, it plays on par with the Standard and it blows my old P90 Special (you know the one) out of the water. Plus, I never really liked the bat wing pick guards.

Last time I sold one must have been about 20 years ago, that went for about £200, I have no idea what they go for now. I hated working on the things, but my mates kept breaking bits off them.

Yes, I always shyed away from them. I'd like to sell it in working condition so I guess I'll spend the 20 on a set of new pots. It seems to work fine otherwise.

The guitars are amazing.
 
Congrats on the new guitars. Keep the Burnys. Even though seem to be mystery wood, they're still nice to play.

This one started life as a Burny similar to the one you just got.

Of course that was before stripping the paint, plugging holes, and hitting the body with rasps and sandpaper before refinishing.

Dump the Marshall..................... keep everything else.

At least that would be my course of action!

If you do decide to sell the LP, I think you'll do o.k. by that. That yellowed, dare I say R.R. type, of Custom is sought after from what I see.

Yes, the Marshall goes, as soon as I've fixed the pots. My Gibson SG goes (the Burny looks better to me and sounds better too) and I think the Peavey. My room is too small... And I need to recoup some of the $ spent.

I actually think the LP is the RR signature model with non original knobs, non original pick guard and probably one non original pickup. The gold covers are obviously missing too.

If you're correct on the LP model, and decide to move it along please let me know. I might have someone to introduce you to that could help you get top $$$, honestly with integrity.
