good budget Telecaster style guitar?

I am looking for a good budget Tele, the typical single coil type, preferably with a maple board.
I have a Rondo Music SX tele for sale for two reasons - 1 as part of recouping some funds after buying my 1st Gibson (the honeymoon continues).
2 - the main reason - neck dive. Light basswood body.

I was looking at the Squier Bullet, but it also has basswood body and am not near enough any stores to try one.

Anyone have experience / recommendations?
I have some better tuners, can deal with nut or fret issues, and would likely replace the pickups.
Used is better, but I hardly see ANY used Squier Teles, lots of strats though.
Or, the ones I do see are way over priced.
The most decent cheap tele is a Peavey.
The bridge looks just like chrome, but it's paint.
That's how they make them so cheap...

and hardly any where NEAR "vintage tele" COST Good Sir-----I can "deal with " a different radius to save, uhm THOUSANDS ;)
yet still get a solid USA made Vintage guitar...........for the price or less of a foreign import...........................

I had a few over the years

I don't care about US made guitars, they're just another import here. I like my Squier CV50 a lot. It cost under £350 new has a sensible 9½" radius on a nice (not too thin) neck and is never going to neck dive with the pine body. :D

The high end Squiers are definitely great guitars. In fact, it's crazy how good they are for what they cost.

I had a CV '50s Strat that was amazing. My Vintage Modified Tele Custom is right up there in quality, sound, and playability with any other Tele I have ever played. For real.

And used ones are dirt cheap.

Cv Esquire.......... dunno the neck radius --- TBTH I really never "look up" the neck radius of any of the hundreds of guitars Ive owned and flipped

O.K. in your honor Beagle I looked and the Esquire has a 9.5" "C" neck so I guess i learned something......but I will swap between Epi -- Fender--Squire--Dean (With A "V" neck and who knows what radius) to a bass....to a Grote ......to an AXE HANDLE (dont ask the neck radius)
sometimes all in the course of an evenings "musings" ........neck radious really never enters into it just what I FEEL like playing at the time/.moment...........oh look a squirrel

I swap from this

to this

via several of these

Junior.gifCV50.gif

but this one hurts my arthritic hands least, with it's 1" thick at the first fret 7¼" radius soft V neck.

So it does matter, depending what day it is...

See neck radius shouldnt be an issue for you ;)

I cant do the mandolin though --- to small ---Id break it

I like the V neck on the Soltero -- its very comfortable and FAST -- Ive played several high end acoustics that had a SHARP "V" -- wasnt to impressed with that .....but the soft V is very interesting
and the 50's PAF clone Dean pups make this thing a RIPPER
here is an unbiased review and a few sound samples by guys who can actually play ;)

I get it -- I have arthritis -- carpal tunnel currently a broken pinky finger (left hand) and I have broken every finger and both wrists (5 times in total on the wrists) plus crushed my right hand where the thumb meets the hand crushed this whole area.....

the fact my hands work AT ALL is par on a miracle....

also explains my :poo: playing skills .... ;)

CV is a killer guitar for the cash, my 50s road worn was my pick (didn't care for the worn part, it is just a killer guitar) of every Tele I could find including CS and fancy fancy models. But I see they are shall we say a bit more than I paid for mine.

It is an issue though, the flatter they get the more it hurts, more quickly.

Bliss looks like

To me. :D Which is why it's been my go to guitar for 25 years.

I understand what you are saying, those flat necks are a killer for my wrist, i cannot play any guitar with a flat neck period. I get hand pain so bad i thought i would never play guitar again. A modern C shaped slim neck for me. My Godin's are all C slim ergo necks. The neck on my NormCastor was made to the measurements that Godin gave me on the neck of one of my Godin guitars. Its fabulous by the way. Super smooth hand feels good after playing for hours. Fender had a great slim neck on my very first guitar the Affinity Strat. This is of utmost importance to me when purchasing a guitar. All my Godin guitars and the NormCastor are great comfortable playing necks, so none of them will be collecting dust, they all get played.

I grew up BEFORE computers.......

We rode--- bicycles -- skateboards--- dirt bikes-- snow mobiles-THREE WHEELERS (the one they outlawed because they were DANGEROUS) water skied sno skied played Hockey -- basketball baseball tennis football ("lettered" in 2 of them)
Idolized Evil Knievel..............if its got wheels....I built a ramp and JUMPED IT -- several car accidents---- (totaled 2) whiplash--- hernia-- more concussions than an NFL linebacker -----Wrecked more motorcycles than most folks ever owned (before mandatory helmet laws) ...... plus a couple work related incidents.........oh and the most recent break was breaking up a dog fight with 100+ lb dogs.......

OH!!!----I didnt list the leg--- ribs-- arm--- or the 3 herniated discs and tilted sacrum (that I deal with daily now)

OR THE TIME I GOT STABBED IN THE LEG (Still got the scar) ----

Ive led a VERY ACTIVE and sometimes Violently PAINFUL life ---- FOOL of lots of crap to do .....I did it....and I wrecked it ...................

I don't think there is a better value out there than the Squier Classic Vibe and Modern Player guitars.

That's the direction I would take...

I hear ya, after thinking about it not to compare but it makes sense I had two fingers , hand bone, coller bone, foot , leg and ribs plus the back injury. So you were a bit crazier than me, a bit. No stabbings though.
