Going under the knife; Pearly turns Lumy

I think I figured it out. The signal goes thru the switch, and depending on where the switch position is it changes the signal path thru the cap

I see that switch mounted INSIDE the cavity. Do I assume, you will set the switch to whichever wiring you want it to sound like, then install the cover?
If you want to change to the other wiring type, you remover the cover and change the switch?

Yep. I can’t image wanting to change it that often.

Like eSG said, Brilliant..!!!! Don O...I never seen anything like it..Great work converting to all gold hardware..it made that guitar just PoP..and the pup's and ebony rings are incredible..you did good man..great solder work too..some of the best ive seen..

Congrats..!!!..

and you know what Don..i dont think I ever saw pots that had the tone knobs built in..I have seen those knobs before but never knew what they were for..that is something else..and wired up in a vintage Les Paul style..just awesome..how's it sound....is it done.?..

Thanks BR. I haven’t fired it up through an amp yet. Took me a few hours over a couple days to get it setup. I never installed and had to setup a new floating bridge. I had 4 springs on it and I couldn’t get it to float. Then I removed 2 springs, and it was way to mushy on a bend and I put the 2 springs back in. Then the action was way to low. Then I had to lower the pups. And it fret buzzed. Finally looked at some of my other guitars and realized; the saddles, ya gotta RAISE the saddles. From the factory the bridge had them set dead low. Now I was on the road to success. Need to do some final setup tomorrow and then fire this baby up.

All dressed up and ready to go. But no joy, no signal. Everything ohm meters out good, no shorts, etc. gonna get out the oscilloscope tomorrow and see what’s up. Played the SG Supra to cheer up afterwards.

Ah, Chilli, my drawing is in MY shorthand, there are 4 pots, a volume and tone for each pup. They are concentric pots that Wav pointed out. I’m wiring them the same as my 81 Les Paul. Look close and you’ll see 6 solder connections on each pot. Also, no push pull.

What pots did you use, as in make and model?

They are CTS pots, 250K and 500K stacked from All Parts. Got out the oscope yesterday and looked at signals. Turns out the neck volume pot (500K) has a dead spot when on full and dead spots along the way, dang. The bridge pup has a signal when the hot lead is not connected to the pot, but once connected to 500K to ground it goes silent. The neck pup looks to be a normal production type but the bridge one looks like a prototype, WTF. Won't have time today to mess with them.

---nothing (short of a 10 lb anchor) could you ad to that PRS to compare :)

Dang bridge is 3 lbs.

and FYI-- I love it!

Well I got the new concentric pot for the neck pup installed and she is alive. BUT, the bridge pup is fubar and will not put out any signal under load, so I ordered a replacement pup and will contact Lace about a return. SOOOO, this project is on hold until Saturday when the new pup arrives.
