As a group, we all post pictures of our new gear. Guitars, amps, pedals, etc. We're all pretty lucky that we can drop some coin on a shiny new thing.
We all have problems. We all have issues, both big and small. But, I would venture that none of us knows hunger,
Without our intervention, people will starve. Children will starve, and they will die. CHILDREN WILL DIE! THIS IS AMERICA! NO ONE SHOULD DIE FOR LACK OF FOOD IN AMERICA!
I believe that as fellow humans, we should help others in need, where we can, and when we can.
To that end, I would ask that you look into your heart, and write a check and donate to your local food bank. A dollar, $10, $100, $500 or whatever your heart will allow.
We all know what we need to do. When people fail us, we need to take matters into our own hands. We know what is right, so let's do the right thing.
Thanks
Don

I am more than skeptical of content like this "mom" from TikTok. In fact, I'll just be bold enough to say that I believe that video is a work of fiction intentionally designed to create outrage. In other words, it's propaganda.

There are maximum monthly limits and not even for a household of 6 is it possible to receive more than $1,386. She claims she gets $4k a month. Are we to believe this woman has somewhere in the neighborhood of 46 children and therefore qualifies for $4k every month? I'm very, very doubtful.

So, either this woman has documented herself in video format (albeit in super low quality, possibly to cover AI manipulation) on all of social media confessing to some pretty serious felonious crimes involving fraud against the US government,

OR

The video was very much intentionally designed to cause a manufactured outrage.

Sorry y'all, I didn't mean for my post to be taken so serious. That's actually not the video I wanted to post, I had seen one earlier that day that was kind of funny, but I couldn't find that one.

I did just read that her channel is made up of 95% satirical content. So…yeah….not very seriously taken by me(at least).
Ludicrous for the clicks and cash.

I believe in helping people that are truly in need of help. Something that I do not support is single mothers who continue to get pregnant in order to gain more welfare and I do know some women that look to government assistance to fill the role of a baby daddy. I have been in need of government assistance in my life on more than one occasion. I was greatful it was available to me as a temporary crutch. This is but one of the many things that makes America great. However that was a temporary stepping stone for me and not a way of life. I was able to overcome that obstacle in my life and move on to a better and more prosperous life. Some of you long time members here may remember my tribulations in 2019 when I was wrongfully terminated for a medical condition that I still have today. Now I work for a great company and my condition has not prevented me from being the top performer in my team.

Been donating to the local food banks and animal shelters as always. Animal shelters and pets always suffer in a bad economy.
Also been donating to the Satanic Temple of Salem for all the good legal work that they do. Someone needs to stick up for the Constitution.
Unless it’s a very good cause, my cash stays in Essex County, or the Commonwealth of MA.

This right here, that's all it's supposed to be.
I'm not so sure it was even that. I think that was a positive byproduct, but that wasn't the goal. It was in response to an outcry. During the Great Depression, the government actually wanted to pay farmers to destroy their crops in order to create artificial scarcity and therefore boost prices.

...During the Great Depression.

Yeah, I imagine that went over well amongst the hoardes of the hungry...people were pissed

So they came up with a plan to instead give it to the hungry folks while also boosting sales at grocers.

Here's an interesting short read and brief history of how we got what eventually became the food assistance we have today:

The closing statements of the article mention Walmart captures nearly 25% of all food assistance spending. Which itself is a rabbit hole worth diving into, if one is so inclined.

The Walton family is worth over $430 billion. Billion with a 'B'.

Walmart is the nation's #1 private (not gov't or postal) employer, 1.6 million employees.

Walmart employees work up to 40 hours a week, but still qualify for monthly food assistance benefits.

Walmart employees spend their food assistance benefits at....

Walmart.

I say this all to point out that yes, there is fraud and abuse, but I'm not so sure we're supposed to be mad at the people who are eating on these programs.

That we have so many dependent on such a program in the first place, speaks to the existence of larger and darker implications.

A dependent bunch is an easily controlled bunch. 42 million is a whole bunch!

"There are only 9 missed meals between mankind and anarchy" - Alfred Henry Lewis

Who is actually profiting or benefitting here? How much money is at stake? Safe to say probably significantly more than 8.2bn...

I'm totally sure that members of the Walton family aren't donating and lobbying, or anything of that nature at all, ever  ...

What might hypothetically happen if we eliminated the program entirely, and guaranteed that people who work are paid a wage that can pay the bills and buy food? A family like the Waltons might stand to lose a whole lot if that were to happen...

The Waltons aren't alone either.

The people we think are in control, aren't.

The system is absolutely working as designed.

The billionaires living off of government money have convinced us that the problem is poor people living off of government money.
