While we dont use gigantic MOSFETS, we do use quite insanely large SCRs, like this, everyday in electrical distribution. They are key in medium-high voltage applications(1001-50000v) like motors, Variable Frequency Drives, power conditioners. But we also use fairly large ones in nominal voltage applications too (0-1000v)

That's the best copy I've ever seen.
Now you need a giant FET.

I like the ODS platform it took me awhile to figure out exact voltages then the final fine tuning it could be as simple putting a tail resistor on a bass or treble pot
in this case the Piher resistors on V-1 plates sounded dark used Mepo/Electra MF7C cleaned right up done.
