Gonna go look at one tonight....
Serious chunk of money!!!
How do you tell a wildwood from a non-wildwood?Gonna go look at one tonight....
How are the Wildwood any different? Me no comprende.
Obviously this is very psychological. Perhaps you just don't trust Gibson when considering your past experiences. You're expecting to discover some major flaws down the road that you don't see or feel right now. I recommend some frantic junk-rubbing to warm up the guitar for you...Ok,
So I played this Wildwood Spec Les Paul and I have to say that it was really, really nice. Beautiful finishe, felt really solid...I also liked the big neck, but even though I could not find a single flaw with it, somehow, the guitar just didn't "grab" me...if that makes sense???
I can't put my finger on it, and as I said, there was nothing wrong with it.
Does that make any sense to any of you???

Go straight to the jugular, 67plexi! This is a cream-of-the-crop LesPaul. Well done...Out of all the guitars for sale at Wildwood this would be my choice.

I'm not sure, but @67plexi should be able to tell us the differences.
I'm told that Wildwood guitars has Gibson custom make guitars to their specs with hand selected woods, etc.
Exclusive to the vendors who engage in custom shop specs. Sweetwater, Musicians Friends/Guitar Center, Music Zoo, Wildwood, and others, do this regularly.Apparently Gibson custom makes guitars in collaboration with Wildwood Music.
Oh i get it. Custom shop amd made to measure guitars. Wildwood is simpy a dealer that has access to this.Exclusive to the vendors who engage in custom shop specs. Sweetwater, Musicians Friends/Guitar Center, Music Zoo, Wildwood, and others, do this regularly.

I've never heard of or seen listed on their site a Wildwood Select with a goldtop (or any other opaque) finish. All other things being equal I think I'd buy it for the rarity if nothing else.
Their thing with the select line is they pick out the maple wood used for the tops, so it's gotta be ultra rare for one to have a solid finish over the flames.
57 and 58 LPS had the small thin frets
When I saw you were trying out a '58 spec, I said no way. If you did buy it, we'd be seeing complaints of killing the frets a week from now.

Does Gibson offer stainless steel frets at all?
