I think yes. When you have a requirement for a sound or sounds that your current rig can't do you may need another. I don't play my Legacy and Asat very often, but when I have a need for those sounds they are there for me.

Ones need is dependent on their stupidity level.
I have a US Special Strat seafoam green with the 60 year anniversary plate.
When I saw another new old stock EXACTLY the same in candy apple red I said to myself "Hmmm, candy apple red!" now I have two US Special Strats.
That's serious stupid :-(

Is it??? I don't see how...I just bought two Squier Vintage Modifies Strats about three days apart. Both are Black...why? Because I like them...One has maple and one has rosewood boards...
