Well, the seller responded with a resounding NO when I asked for the full serial number and was quite rude in subsequent messages. I guess it is either a fake, or he is just a D-bag and doesn't want to try to make a deal of any kind.

Yeah thats suspect as hell, man. A serial number is like a VIN number for a car: specific to one guitar and will tell you its origin. Anyone not wanting to share that on a sell is highly suspicious

Well that’s not nice. The last 3 digits of a 2004 are just the sequence number of the guitar built that day.
