You know, it happened in 1950 to Leo Fender when he released his new fangled Broadcaster. Gretsch called him out on it as they had a Broadcaster drum set. So he just clipped the broadcaster off the water slide decal and the Nocaster was born till he renamed it the Telecaster as history goes and the rest was history. Seems those early tele's had a killer, hotter bridge pup than the later ones, I'm not sure when the pup was changed to the real twangy ones.

Either way I really don't see Gibson winning, even if they do win in court. Either way they look terrible for doing this. So I'm just sitting back and seeing how everything pans out while rooting for Dean.

Well I know for sure, from here on out I’m going to be looking at the Dave Mustain dean models a bit closer when I’m in the market for a new fixed bridge guitar. Maybe I can squeeze enough funds out of my wallet in August just to spite Gibson.

That Gibson above looks suspiciously like a Jackson. Room for another Lawsuit somewhere? What was cool about Jacksons is how they beveled the sides of the headstock. I always thought that was a clever idea.

Well I thought the exact headstock shape was the deciding factor that's copyrighted much more so than other features.

THat was my thinking as well--
In printing/advertising and design anyway --- which I was and still am in and have been since 1990 -- 10-20% varinace is all that was needed

Could Gibson (or DEAN look at the third one) sue over these "stock" images --- do a quick google search


ANY one of these has "cues" and clues --- that COULD be a
Dean --- a jackson-- a Gibson ....

But their old Explorer bass prototype from the late 50s or early 60s had such a headstock. So chances are good that it is an idea by the old Gibson designers.
