Gibson Firebird X Anyone...

I'm saying it's their decision. Seems clear they didn't want any more of these things out there in the World, and the negative association people may have from them. I really don't blame them, they were horrible guitars.
I guess I see your point------ still.....lemonade from lemons --- could have been achieved.....

I agree, what a waste.
If Gibbo was smart, they'd deface the serials & mark the guitars as "not for resale" and donate them to schools, veterans organizations, prisons, churches, hospitals, etc. They could really make a big deal about it and people would feel all warm & squishy.
It would benefit many.
Or part them out even. All those pickups & harnesses I'm sure could be sold off to recoup some of the loss.
But this move is just plain dumb. Instead of recouping, this cost them.
It cost them the cost of the guitars to produce, it cost them to rent the excavator and possibly disposal, and it cost them in terms of bad PR in my opinion.
Sad. It's a disposable world.

I like Trogly--- he is an Ohio boy --

Seems like Gibson just cut and run from the old plant----- who does that?

Sad is the take away from that video--- just freaking SAD

AND as I posted on page 1 --- they COULD have had the electronics removed and just made into nice -- flamed maple neck, passive guitars---

sad

Gibson have totally lost the plot and next it will be the customer base

Have they? They revamped the lineup to give us players exactly what we've been begging for for years, lowered prices and improved quality. All the 2019's I've laid me hands on, including the one I own, have been flawless. This sounds like a recipe for increasing a customer base, not losing it, at least from a product standpoint.

They obviously considered the Firebird X to be an undesireable, perhaps inferior, product. The market agreed with them by the way - the line was an abject failure when it came out. They are not an altruistic organization and if they believe that the guitars do not promote their company properly they are under no obligation to put them into circulation, donation or otherwise. If I built something I thought was crap I wouldn't want that to be out there influencing how people perceive my company.

If we want to get into the issue of litigation or misstatements then that is a separate one from them losing the plot on product. Now that they seem to have eased off on that crap and admitted they were too heavy-handed about it I don't see any lasting impact as far as the marketplace.

o.k. then they lost the Narrative......

mostly because the GIBSON FAITHFUL want en MASS 59 les pauls -- only -- and all else is CRAP in most cases ---look at the new line up---- boring---S.O.S.

well except the DC Tribute (which everyone complains about the pick guard on) ---

Norlin made better more exciting guitars LOL!

I would like one of the new Studio Lesters though----and a Gold Top with P90s.....and one of them funky pick guard DC Jrs.......and............
I mean if they are going to destroy them or something ---

I agree with you 100% on the Norlin comment. It was easily the most exciting period in Gibson's history. And, yeah, the current lineup is a bit boring, but it's also exactly what the guitar-buying public has been clamoring for and begging them to do for the last decade, so boring or not they are giving "us" what we asked for.

—-and maybe the DC bass....and the LP & SG Specials with bound fretboards(they haven’t done that in a loooooong time)...or maybe having a regular production model of the SG Standard with a Maestro...and the Jr’s are still present in single cut, double cut, and SG...
I dunno, seems like there have been some long asked for things addressed in this go around.
Yeah, they kept it vanilla...but they put out a fairly comprehensive lineup.

I meant agnutsie and the guy who shot this video -- thats been removed---- wonder if the BULLY guitar company PAID him to take it down or if he just "disappeared" .......
I was trying to subtly allude to the supposition that they may have both been recently given the opportunity to observe the lower workings of an excavator...very closely ;)
