Gibson Firebird X Anyone...

Even if it is "only" the Firebird X it is to me completely inacceptible to make overproduction and then destroy the instruments that cannot be sold. Regardless if that happen that spectacular or silently.

The should have sold it to a massively reduced price or - better - given it away to support poor musicians araount the world. Maybe as a charity action.
 
the gear sites chase me away with this stuff...so close to being done...there is enough of everything in this world for everybody..wanna hate fine...i have most of the gear made in music & don't go on sites & F with everybody.. just a/d & play music & laugh cause most any guitar in any amp can work if need be if ya wanna be a player not a critic...i buy all the stuff most hate on & gig it-record with it...mindless sheep led to the slaughter.....................
 
Plenty of good stuffs in the Swamp...
Stick ya Marshall on the bank, grab a guitar, gas in the generator and fire away...
The critters like the rumble of a good boom stick..
And play till the sun goes down, than back up...

sad/........ the video makes me sad......

so much good could have come from donating those guitars --- to schools churches-- youth groups -- something--
even strip the electrics out and sell the husks -- the wood and necks and all are still good ......how wasteful ignorant and arrogant..

Wonder if GIBSON (most likely) sanctioned this??? If so they are really on a youtube to run to self destruction and HORRIBLE media decisions...

I don't have any problem with this. It was an ill-conceived and quite unloved model and Gibson is a private company that has every right to control what is out into the marketplace (even if a donation) with their name on it. Luxury-goods manufacturers do this all the time, from limiting production of high-demand items to literally destroying poor-performing ones so that it limits the brand association with an ugly/problematic/plain old stupid model.
 
So -- your telling me -- slapping (Im sure they have plenty lying around) standard passive electrics in them -- and DONATING them -- in a BIG -- POSITIVE P.R. move would not have made more sense than this video?????

I mean lets face it Gibson could USE some POSITIVE press --- its becoming "in" to hate them ---

I'm saying it's their decision. Seems clear they didn't want any more of these things out there in the World, and the negative association people may have from them. I really don't blame them, they were horrible guitars.
 
I say we play what we want and when....
Just enjoy what ones are available to us and if we enjoy them.....who cares, let them argue and fuss...
But instead of destroying, give to the ones that would consider them gold...
Donate and make MUSIC..

So much good could have been obtained with a simple donation!
I am with Trident, Bea, eSGEe, and all others who said donate, to some music schools , or set them up for the kids that cannot afford them.
But to crush them into trash is not to brilliant in my book!
