Gibson Acoustics

I've been wanting to post my newest guitar here, but I haven't had the time. So, belated NGD. A 2017 Gibson L-00 Standard.

I had the choice when I bought this guitar between a J-45 Standard, and another L-00 and I was looking at getting a new acoustic. A good acoustic, such as a D-18 or a J-45. I had thought I wanted a dread, but then I tried a little girl who was calling out to me.

So why did I chose this over the J-45 or D-18? Simple; I liked the high end this little parlor had over them. It's eq response, in my opinion, is flat but then slopes up at the treble, which I really like. Not over the top like an SJ-200, but just right. Only thing I didn't like? It didn't come with a second strap button though, so I took some liberty and added one.

Now, I know the Col has a beautiful J-45 AG, but I'm curious who else has a Gibby Acoustic. Post yours here if you have one. Here's my Gibson family photo to end my post here:

Very nice.

In my opinion, Gibson builds the best acoustic guitars in the World, by a wide margin. There is something in the air in Bozeman, man.

I almost agree with you but it stops at the wide margin. There have been times that I really wanted a Hummingbird because a rose wood body is magical. I tested that guitar and I have nothing bad to say about it. My son with his young ears liked the D28 from Martin. It was fuller and the low end did not wipe out the mids. The air in Pennsylvania has been great since 1833.

that's like the Gibson vs Fender arguments, which never get anywhere.

Why? Because they're both great. So who builds the best acoustic guitar? Gibson or Martin?
It doesn't matter much, you just hunt for the one with the tone you can't live without.

A player could find a Gibson J-45 or a Martin D-28 that rang bells for him (or her).
That's the guitar you should buy. Not the brand, but the tone.

The name is just a name. There's enough individual variations in acoustic guitars that
any kind of generalization is bullshite. You have to play it. That's the only way to know.
In Logan's case, he had the opportunity, and he took advantage. Great move.

Not all of us are blessed to work in a store that stocks some of the best.
So if you do, you grab the best of the best, and then keep them. *grins
