No neck-dive with that one…

No neck-dive with that one…

Another one.![]()
I think part of me felt like I knew I had the budget for it and playing an Epi in public makes me seem like a cheap bastard.
No one notices but I do. Nothing wrong with a Gibson on the headstock as long as it's a good guitar.
Ace didn't play an Epi.
Angus didn't.
Nugent didn't.
Eddoe, well that's a different one there!
When I was looking, it turns out the lower end flame maple Epis are actually a picture of flame maple laminated to a cheap maple top. That is the kind of thing that made me want to get a Gibby.I'm not a GG guy by any stretch of the imagination, but what I've always heard was the only difference in the higher end EPi's and lower end Gibs was the hardware/electronics, etc. Essentially the same body/neck, but the Gibson one gets better bridge/tuners/pups, etc.
Now, I guess that applies to Vs & SGs also, not just GGs but I've never compared them myself - can anyone confirm/deny this belief? These days, everyone's QC is so all over the place it wouldn't surprise me to find an Epi that's better than a more expensive Gibson. I've played $200 Jacksons that were better than $5-600 ones - and comparable LTDs, Ibanez, etc. So, if hardware and electronics don't come into play, it probably comes down to the QC process.
Seeing as I have done this before, I stand corrected!I think part of me felt like I knew I had the budget for it and playing an Epi in public makes me seem like a cheap bastard.

I was just poking fun Geoff. It was just too good a GIF to waste.Seeing as I have done this before, I stand corrected!
I guess it's cause I knew I had the budget for a Gibby so...
why not? Is it worse somehow?

Goya ....... pics!!!![]()
I know you have posted it before but still...... PICS!!! please ?
Oh I know for sure.I was just poking fun Geoff. It was just too good a GIF to waste.
Consider it my GIFt to you.![]()
Yeah that's what I was telling...I have to disagree AMS. I have a 2021 Epi LP Standard ‘59 Lazarus. It has a one piece mahogany neck and a 2-piece mahogany body. It has Gibson Burstbucker 2 and 3 pickups. It has CTS pots and Mallory caps. It has a Switchcraft jack. It is an outstanding looking, sounding and playing guitar.
Is my Gibson LP Standard Slash AFD better? Yes it certainly is, but it also cost three and a half times more.
Yeah I bought one of those.
A Goya GS-40 LS-S copy? Not a common guitar.Yeah I bought one of those.
And Paul Reed Smith made it into a double cutaway for me.
I put different PUs on it...
I like the Goya, the look with that pickguard and the knob controls, and placement. And the real solid wood looks.
Oooo I have a Lzzy Hale too. I like it with the 57+. I spose a 490 or 500 would take it up a notch. What else you do to yours??I'm pretty new to the Gibson brand.
(Couldn't really afford them until recently) I've owned 5, still own 3. They are all amazing instruments.
I've also owned a dozen Epiphones over the years, a few were just ok, a few were stellar! I still own 2.
I've purchased 2 (used) Gibsons that cost LESS than my Epi Lzzy Hale (now modded) explorer ...
If I could only own 2 guitars forever, I'd honestly pick 1 of each.
I like the Gibson Les Paul's better than the Epi, and I like the Epi Explorers better than the Gibsons.
I always put better pickups in every guitar I own...So I can't speak a whole lot to the cheaper pickups in the Epi, although they usually aren't that great. Truth is, a lot of Gibson pups aren't really that great either.
the 500t is the only one I'd keep.
I don't believe I'm a cork sniffer, I let my ears and hands judge each instrument on its own merits.
I love my Deans and Jacksons a whole bunch too!
Gibson L6-S copy. I have one of those too now , a 1975.
Has a midrange and tone control plus 6 way pickup selector switch. Fast slim neck.
Oooo I have a Lzzy Hale too. I like it with the 57+. I spose a 490 or 500 would take it up a notch. What else you do to yours??

Man that looks great! Yours was the white one, I got the black one. I like it as is.Black Grovers, roller bridge and stop bar.
Painted the pickguard and truss cover flat black and splotchy.
Pulled all the electronics and added Seymour Duncan Mick Thompson EMTY Blackouts.
Black foam under nut and bridge, speedknobs.
It roars with a vicious aggression.
She May just be my best sounding drop B guitar!
