GFS Fat Pat. Any opinions?

Hey y'all! I'd like to get a few opinions on the fat pat from gfs before I decide to pull the trigger on a bridge model. I have an LTD Viper with gfs classic II's and while I love the neck pup, the bridge sounds too thin in comparison. Definitely going for a new bridge pup, just want to do my due diligence in researching. Thanks in advance!

What didn't you like about the bridge pup?
It may have been a Crunchy Pat that I had in the bridge, but whatever it was, it was a little choked or scooped sounding for my taste at the time(it had some beef, it had some high mids, and it had some sizzle...IIRC it was lacking some low-mid punch...in that guitar)...long ago...but fairly memorable time. I gigged that guitar a lot back then, and used the Fat Pat in the neck a lot. That guitar got a lot of head scratching visitors during breaks...

What I am looking for is a bridge pickup with a good solid bottom end, prominent low mids and clear but not overly bright upper mids and top end. For what it's worth, the Viper is basswood with a maple drop top and a mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard.

For the $, it’s worth a try....my experience goes back over 10 years with it. I had the replacement on hand already, and I didn’t give the bridge pickup much of a chance...I knew what I wanted out of the guitar at the time, and knew it was in a box on my shelf. I liked the Fat Pat in the neck well enough right off the bat, and left it there.

Good enough. I really like having the collective experience of everyone here to draw from, so the next time I order parts from gfs, a fat pat will be heading my way. Thanks for your insight!

I have them -- well HAD them in my SG I just swapped those out today for a Dimmarzzio and a Dirty Digits-- which I think I wired the DD wrong--- it sounds like ASS but the Dimarzzio is STELLAR--

Guitar Madness (ebay) has TONS of great pups for DAMN CHEAP -- but since Guitarfetish MOVED to Sarasato-- I gotta "pull" for the SWAMP CREW ;)

GO GFS!!!!!!

I've had several sets of gfs pups. Dream 180s(good pups, but viper didn't bond with them), neovin tele hard vintage bridge & strat neck(made the mistake of using 500k pots-shrill), lil puncher bridge(same mistake as the neovins), classic 2 buckers (love the neck... bridge, not so much).

I have (currently) a GFS Alnico Classic and a D'armond "copy" that WERE in the SG-- and they sounded great -- but I also had a rainy cold blustery day -- and a Dimarzzio and Dirty Digits sitting a draw -- alnog wioth a 3 ply SG pickguard --- so............. long story short --

I "F" ed up something (or its grounding out-- has connectivity but sounds week and sad) on the bridge pup but the neck (Dimarzzio) sounds FOOGIN GLORIOUS -- it has given a whole new dimension to the SG !!!-- I am probably going to PULL the Dirty Digit and slap the GFS back in ---as it sounded very nice in the bridge

I have had good luck all round with gfs-pups and hardware. Prompt service every time! Have you tried Dragonfire pups?
