Getting Another Surgery...

Man i hate that for ya. Im a card carrying zipper club member from that group after a botched Gallbladder surgery. The surgery isnt bad, but listen when they tell you to take it easy and not lift stuff. 10lbs roughly, preferably less for at least a couple of weeks.

Doctors told my dad if it was heavier than a pencil.... leave it on the floor.

but my winkie weights more than a pencil.......................................(and yes sometimes its on the floor.......) This is poor advice IMHO -- I mean .......you have to pick up your winkie..........

No all DICKING ABOUT aside Chris --- I do wish you a safe surgery and speedy recovery ....and if you see my winkie on the floor DONT PICK IT UP --- Lord KNOWS where it has been !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is not a Hernia that you all are thinking of. I had a normal hernia operation years ago in my groin.

This is a hernia in my esophagus as in MY THROAT! The surgery will be dissecting a part of my stomach and wrapping it around my esophagus
to restrict the reflux of acid into my throat. The reflux will cause cancer if not stopped some how...

Watch the video I attached.

The worse part for me will be the lack of solid food. My orders are to have only these three items for a minimum of two weeks and maybe more;

Ensure
Gatorade
Water

That's it! No solid food, no solid food turned to mush...just those three liquids.

I guess I'll be losing some weight.

That TIF procedure looks pretty wild. I don't think I could handle that post-op diet. Sounds like you're pretty ready to do it. When is it all happening?

The actual surgery is March 24th. A bunch of pre-op stuff prior to that.

I need to do it. If you've ever been woken up in the middle of the night after regurgitating a mouthful
of pure stomach acid up your throat into your mouth you'd know why. Seriously painful. Like gargling the hottest of
hot sauces. Too much of that and cancer is inevitable!

Yo Chris, I'm sure everything will go well and you will be feeling much better when it's all done. I suffered for years with acid reflux. I'd wake up in the middle of the night choking on stomach acid burning my esophagus. Be well my brother, be well.

Yep. What both my dad and mother in law had done. Made some surgical advances between 1970ish for my dad and 30 years later when my mother in law had it done. Not nearly as invasive today as 50 years ago. and you will need to though-ally chew your food and take smaller than normal bites for several month or it gets stuck on the way down.

...and this one has me a little nervous! Hiatal Hernia Repair to resolve long standing issues with GERD!

This is a video of what will happen. Following this another surgeon will be doing something else to my throat to remove scar tissue...

I recommend you roll a fatty, and forgettaboudit.

Good luck man. That sounds pretty rough. I was having lots of problems in the middle of the night with the stomach acid deal. Mine has completely stopped since I stopped drinking 4+ months ago. It is really painful being woken up by that. That being said, I am going under the saw and hammer for a shiny new titanium hip April 24th. My recovery will be easier.
