Gettin' the Itch!

For one of these:
SG Special 2017 T

I have not plugged it in yet even. I've examined it closely. It has incredible action from the gate. It has a pretty bitchen neck on it.

If I plug it in I'm scared I'll buy it. It comes with 9s! ( I like that!) from the factory. A gig bag. ( I soon would get a hardcase for it )

I know what 490s sound like. These come with ALNICO II magnets. I have 490/498 combo on my 1998 LP Special SL already. A great sounding guitar.

I still owe money but I have been working.

I will plug it in next time I go to GC.

Oh no! I'm doomed!

Talk me out of it boys! Pretty please!

If It Feels Good, Do It!!!

The cream switch tip look superb, but it needs a poker chip, imho.

That 490 through some of your amps should be fantastic!

Do you guys think I should throw on a cream colored poker chip on it? I actually have the tool to do it with without marring the chip or guitar. I'm starting to talk myself into it. This one came with a regular truss rod cover instead of the one which says "Special." I'm going to leave it that way. One of the things I've noticed is when I watch demos of this guitar is that the ones on the demos have the same 490 tone which I'm getting. Both clean and distorted it has a certain something "cool vintage tone vibe" about it. Dist/OD should be used sparingly on this guitar because of how these pups respond. I need to change the strings on it today. I've been busy as usual. Right now my brakes are getting done. I had to take a lay off yesterday instead of today because my brakes appeared to be needing service on Sunday. My sister had to give me a ride to work yesterday. One of my best buddies gave me a ride home after I got off.

I think I have a new one laying around if you need it...

Congrats on the fine new SG Catmandue, very nice. I think a poker chip would look good on it. I also like the satin finishes. I have a '13 model (60's) tribute in satin HC & have had no problems with it coming off. It has some light buckle rash on the back, & a couple of small scratches from me foolishly leaving a key ring clipped to my jeans once, but even there the finish isn't coming off (it'd probably buff out). Enjoy your new SG. Cheers

I may still have a black poker chip around here still in a package for you! I have to go look. Anyway, I hit my satin finish with Virtuoso polish and it gave it a little shine and more protection. Congrat's!

I decided to keep the poker chip off. I also changed the strings on it as well as on my Strat Special. It not only makes a difference but, I realize I will adjust the intonation on it pretty soon. I was able to get it very spot on when I did my Highway One Tele. That one has a midnight wine satin nitro finish like this one. They are suppose to check with time but the Tele has not checked on me yet. I've had the Tele four years now. I keep it in a fancy Fender tweed hard case. I'm hoping the intonation should go easy to adjust on the SG. I can do setups and pup adjustments, etc. I like to take a course on how to do frets in the future. That is the only thing I don't know how to do on guitars. I've even made a bridge saddle for an acoustic out of deer bone.

I spent all day at the hospital today. I had to take Mom in again. I hope to the good Lord I can bring her home tomorrow. I love my Mom with all my heart. We all do. I thank the Lord for everyday I get to have her around. This has been keeping me from working on pedals. That and when work pops up for me. I take care of my Dad also who is up there in years as well.

My best to your mom. Strength and good wishes to you. You are a good man

If anyone needs a poker chip, let me know. I have taken them off most of my SGs and LPs

I JUST received one in the mail that I ordered for my LP Studio project.

Dang it!

Let me ask...you have a black one, right?

Yes. It's because the neck pickup in an SG is closer to the bridge than on a Les Paul.

BTW, congratulations!

Yes.

Tonefreaks might argue, but the main tonal difference between average les pauls and SGs is the pup placement (assuming they have the same pickups).
