Get a Fender

Laughed several times -- this article struck me as hysterical--
1. its KIRK HAMMETT --giving a tutorial on sounding like (NOPE not Kirk) like Stevie Ray!-- ER ---what?
2. the simplicity-----
IF you want to SOUND like a guy playing a Fender through a Fender amp --- GET THAT not a Lester and a stack of marshalls! buwahahahaha

Metallica's Kirk Hammett: How to Play Like Stevie Ray Vaughan

I can play most of SRV's solos. I recently played 'Crossfire' on a Stratocaster and I felt it was horribly thing, but SRV used volume to achieve presence. That's hard to duplicate at lower volumes...

Im guessing your not using 13's for strings as well?

You know...I tried it and it didn't sound any different than .009's!!!!!

Billy Gibbons uses .007's.....have you heard his tone???

I heard SRV say in an interview once that he ran his amps almost flat out all the time. There's your presence.

I personally believe he used .013's for the same reason jazz players use them...not tone at all, but the ability to strike the strings really hard and not have them rattle. A thicker string oscillates in a more narrow arc...FWIW anyways...

because YOU --- sound like YOU Bobby ;)

I dont know how the CRAP he dont break them .007's every other song......
Mr Gibbons must have a VERY light touch
