G&L Legacy Special Dual Fulcrum Tremolo popped some strings

Must be strings or saddles..... unless you were trying to pull up a perfect fifth Lol.
I don't know if I'd try that even with any of my Floyds!
I have picked up my FR or Ibanez by the bar in front of me and shook them good. Held the guitar up by the bar. Generally still stay in tune.
Glad you sorted the problem. New saddles, worth it.

Appreciate it! Kinda dig the Paradigms so far, honestly they're the first set of Ernie Balls I've used since probably the early 2000s. While they have almost a coated feel, they are much brighter and responsive like a regular string. Pretty stout so far.

The saddles definitely helped when using the trem compared to the old stock ones that were on it

Alright, admittedly I am dumb as hell to a "whammy" and it's still incredibly new to me but I gotta question some of you might be able to help me answer.

The tremolo is really nice, stable and stays in tune really well after being a little aggressive with it. But the other day, on a set a strings that weren't but a few days old, I busted the A and D when doing a slight pull up. It's set to a float but the question is: is it something either in the tension setting of the plate or possibly needing roller saddles? Or am I just a jackass who did something they shouldn't have done in the first place? Lol
"where" did the string break?
right at the saddle?
It's not difficult to smooth out the string contact points...but I recommend
graph tech, string saver saddles, or rollers would be ducky.

I personally avoid metal and would rather use a softer material like Delrin Nylon or bone.
I don't believe that metal saddles or nut improves any sustain.

That dude with the wooly fro in Kotter made me wonder...
If he and Gene Simmons had a baby, it would be Slash.

Sorry for the derail....

Sustain aside, I realize graph tech etc allows string to move in saddle better but would that not more likely get burrs in it? Or wear out faster as @Inspector #20 can attest to.

Yeah it was busting them ( the 5th and 4th) right at the saddle point due to some burring ( being original, they were probably close to 18 years old). I debated just smoothing them out but said screw it and got some Hipshot Stainless. Just went for them cause I figured it had to be better than what I had, but no real conscious decision over any other type really: all styles and materials were on the table!
