Funky but junky

Adrian dropped a funky old bass off yesterday during his visit.
Looks to be a mid 60's Japanese bass of some kind.
Looks decent from 10 feet away.

But it's trashed. Unsalvagable kinda trashed.
Plywood body that has been smashed & separated front and back.
Halfassed old glue job and wood screw repairs. The body rattles like a vibraslap when banged on.

Propeller wood HUGE long scale neck with tiny frets.
Plugged it in and nothing, as anticipated. But some pot cleaner into the jack and some jack wiggling, and a scratchy signal started to come through.
A nasty, nasily kind of sound, but at least the old pickups both work.

So what do we do with this old warthog?
The body is trashed. It's a throwaway.
The neck seems solid.
A different body is the answer. And the funky pickups are salvageable.

Who has some bizarre ideas of what to make out of this.
I'm game.
Lets get creative.
Now remember I'm the oddball that's made manatee, alligator, cockroach, football and cigar shaped guitars, so don't hold back.

I have done Cigar Box Basses before,

but looking for something different.
Please let the ideas flow, people.

That's an interesting old beast. Ho about a chambered solid body approximately the same shape and thickness. Link the pickups together as a humbucker and mount them about midway between the neck heel and bridge. Just a thought.
