Hah, I had that picture hanging in the studio Since day 1. I also think that speaker is a JBL-100 (trivia).

Here's one I can share...

In late 2005, Ozzy announced that he was considering a split with Zakk Wylde. This was announced both during an on-air interview and via a press release from his management.

I found a Rolling Stone article that mentions these circumstances:

I created and submitted an audition CD to the mailing address provided in the release. A few weeks later, I received an email from Sharon:

Dear Robert,

Thank you for submitting your demo CD. Ozzy appreciates your unique and melodic style. Thus far, you are the only person who sent original material. Since Ozzy is looking for not only a guitarist, but a co-writer for this musical project, your submission was a strong representation of those abilities.

It is among the top 5 submissions currently under consideration.

At this time, Ozzy has yet to decide whether or not to proceed with this project. However, when that decision is made, you will be notified of the time, date and location of a live audition.

Please send us updated contact information upon recepit of this letter.

Sharon

Ultimately, I didn't get the gig...LOL

Makes you wonder sometimes...

Unfortunately i guess i missed this thread but since its been bumped back to relevancy, i have two funny stories i'll share: my first paying gig and the first full stack.

The first paid gig was when i was 15 and it was with my high school band " Stormbringer". My dad was super helpful for us starting off and would do the leg work helping us book places as well as supplying the sound. He managed to get us into this complete hellhole of a bar called " The Teacher's Lounge" that got its name from being an old one room school house on the line of Greenbrier and Fayette Counties in WV. The guy who ran the bar said it was cool if we played despite being underage, as long as we A) Got stamped as not to be able to drink and B) played for 4hrs with a 10min break every hour.

He was confused as to what kind of music we played, thinking we were this early 60s rock band and billed us as such, when the reality was: we played southern rock but a LOT of heavier stuff like Sabbath, Nugent, ACDC. We also had a PA system that had 3 Crown CE1000W Amplifiers, as well as a few 18"subs and 15" mains. It was OVERKILL for that place and basically deafened the crowd of older, rednecks guzzling cheap beer. But we almost got our asses kicked in by 3 of them because we decided to play Night Moves by Bob Seger and our singer butchered it and they threw a pool stick across the table in front of us yelling " YOU GONNA PLAY SEGER THEN PLAY IT F$%&ING RIGHT!!!" . Sooo, i immediately stopped, waved on the rest of the guys to break into "Cat Scratch Fever" and they chilled out lol

The first full stack i ever got was back in 2003 and i was about 20, hadn't moved out from my folks yet but had money for something like that ( go figure, young and stupid but i got my ass out soon after lol). It was the 350w Marshall Mode Four with 2 MF400B cabs. I brought it home and began cranking it, after 15mins BOOM. Blew it up. Took it back, the shop gave me another head and it held up for a few months before doing it again ( turns out i had an impedance mismatch).

But one weekend, i was home alone cause my folks had went out of town and a couple buddies came over, telling me to crank it up to see how loud it could really go. So of course I did and had never really played thru a cranked full stack. I had it upto 10 and then hit the solo switch which boosted it another 3dB. It was so loud it was pressuring my chest. One friend walked outside and went 2 streets down and came back saying " Dude, its loud as hell down the street and oh, your vinyl siding blew off" Thinking he was bull shitting me, i walked outside and the exterior wall behind me had literally blown the vinyl siding loose and the roofing nails in the side had almost all completely popped out. My other buddy grabbed a hammer and we hurried up and had to replace it all, hoping the folks wouldn't find out ( they never did until like 3 years ago when i told them one day when they were at my house lmao)

Great stories !

i lived with my dad in a 3br house for awhile when i was a teen. the third br we shared as a jam room.
one time i was jamming with a drummer and a bass player and my dad walks in and fires one up with us.
we get done, and right about that time my friggin grandma comes walking in out of nowhere. i freaked out about the smell so i immediately said, "dad, this amp is making that funny electrical smell again". so he started fumbling with my amp while the other two guys were about to die laughing.
anyway, she friggin bought it.

That funny, electrical, smoldering rock of meth smell...LOL

Hard to remember. Plus pick fun ones.

I do recall back in maybe the mid 80s playing a dance at a local hall in the town next to ours. Of course, had to have pyro. My bro now has his pyro license. But then?
Use black powder in cans with a spark to set it off. He was in charge of it. We rocked it well as i recall. We have always played like it is Wembley stadium amd we are rock stars but dont take it too seriously.
Anyhoo, pyro went off amd man, it was big!! Seemed to nearly hit the roof.
Next day at take down there were birn scorch marks on the roof!!
Woops...

Only other major one I can thjnk of off the top was that big outdoor show in 83 I have posted video from. Likely 1000 people there. We were doing our own songs some, local boys, rockstars rather than just standing there playing. Metal type stuff. Balls out. Had my 1983 2203 halfstack on like 6. Whole stage shook. I stood beside it, tried not to get jn fromt.
Friends of mine rockin out on the snow fence, nearly pulled it down. Dry ice fog, pyro, we really kicked it. Largest loudest show ever for me. So much fun.
Had a good write up that week in local paper.

Awesome on all counts!!!@!!!

The last time we played at Gazaris
We didn’t have enough material to play 3 sets so we did reruns, as usual between our last set we all walked outside to try and see our name on the marquee.
They had already taken it down and were finishing up putting up the Thursday nights show.
Ratt an Docken were up, 3 punkers were walking along the sidewalk to somewhere, we were all still in costume, one of the punkers decided to show us how tough he was by head butting a newspaper bin, his face was bleeding profusely, and the others were calling us faggots heavy metal queers, and Eddie Van Halen’s, we just stood there and let them be ass’s, then went back in.
I thought we were going to fight, but after the one dude was bleeding so good , we just stood there and told them to have fun man you guys are the coolest.
Ha Ha Ha
Had to be close to 12:30 am
Cheers
