not a guitar, but something someone wrote about Fender guitars and buying a new or used one, thought it was worth a share

A great guitar is the one that you can stop analyzing while playing. Its one that everytime you pick it up you get lost and and forget about all of life's distractions. Its the one that puts a smile on your face after your done and makes you glad you bought it. Its NOT the one that some random guy you've never met told you was better, even though he himself was just regurgitating what somebody else had told him on whatever forum he was into at the time. They all have their quirks but its about finding the one thats quirks don't bother you,or that you may actually enjoy

That pretty much sums how I decide if a guitar is a keeper or flipper.
Sometimes it takes hours, sometimes years.
The keepers speak to me. Visually, sonically, and ergonomically.
If I bond, they stay. If not it's flip time.
Sometimes you realise after the fact, that something should have been a keeper.
Then, usually it's too late.

I agree Leeds! For me it's about how the guitar feels in my hands and how easy it is to play.
Sonically it can be changed with pickups, etc. It has to feel "right".

I agree though--- its taken (actually years) of playing duds....trying to MAKE duds play well--- etc. to learn --- most the time I can play one for under 3 minutes and KNOW if I could love it or lump it-----

Stopped by a guitar center today---- played a BUNCH of stuff--- a Mahogany necked Fender "P" --- a 1800.00 Rickenbacker---- a 1700 Fender USA SWAMP ASH body hard tail (that one I coulda taken home !!!! wow it felt good)

For me it's like chasing women in my younger days, I play them a while until the thrill wears off and move on to the next one.

The thrill was in the pursuit and the catch...

I have a couple right now that I would consider marrying, but I can't be monogamus...
