That’s a great idea
That’s a great idea
I could definitely get into that!!
Awesome idea!
I remember when you completed that one.I do this a lot, actually. I just get up and start jamming, and sometimes, it has a complete structure and sometimes it does not.
Here's one such, early morning jam, that became a complete song...

It's funny how that works. Sometimes ya just start jamming and killer song just flows right out. Other times, it's a battle to get something that seems like a real song. And, then there are the times I hit the most where I have an idea for a complete song and end up somewhere totally different.I do this a lot, actually. I admire the talent you have.

Glad I'm not the only one.
And, thanks for posting idea to completion - very interesting to hear it go from rough idea to final product.
I havent submitted anything in a while. The tank is a little dry lately.
I've been messing around with mic placement on the new 212 I have. Cant seem to find that sweet spot. What I am hearing doesnt translate to what I capture.
Let me know what you guys think, any suggestions would help.
Here is my 50th riff submission. Happy 50th!!
Here's a completed tune (less vocals) that my late bassist and i cooked up back in 2018. Its recorded to a programmed drum machine track. When written, we didn't yet have a drummer.
We played this as an instrumental at Wasteland Weekend 2018.

You can look in YouTube for mic placement videos, there are tons ! And most of them are pretty good.
I like this smartass guy, from smg, he knows enough to get the job done.
I like to put the mic very close, right in the edge of the dust cap and call it good, I've marked on the grill cloth the spots for my 2 favorite speakers spots are. When I record I try to capture a dark speaker and then a bright speaker. But I have 4 different speakers to pick from right here.
If I had only 1 speaker I'd record one track straight middle and then one track off axis on edge of dust cap to give very different tones.
(Except on large dust capped speakers like the k100 or something. )
Learning the speaker/mic placement thing and how it transfers into what's actually being recorded is a long magical adventure and I love messing around with all that stuff! So much fun in trial and error.
What's really going to drive you crazy is that even if you only have 2 speakers, 1 of them sounds better in a mix than the other one!
Thank you brother !That actually sounds damn good James
So, we know what cold does, it seems rain makes it sound meaner!Jacking around in the garage tonight, cold and rainy outside all day long....just kind of blaa
Been like that here as well..Jacking around in the garage tonight, cold and rainy outside all day long....just kind of blaa
Sounds to me like you took the cold and rain and made it storm... :dood:Jacking around in the garage tonight, cold and rainy outside all day long....just kind of blaa
rifles, guitars, call of duty ... That the title to an album if I ever saw one!Well this morning I got up and debated grabbing a rifle for about 5 seconds.... Grabbed a guitar instead.
Had a cool little riff stuck in my head this morning, so I recorded myself just working through it a little bit. I may get back to it later, I may not.
Depends on how well I play call of duty for the next couple hours lol!
