FRIDAY NIGHT RIFFS

Thanks Vito for talking me into getting an interface.

I'll just say Daaaaaaaang I'm impressed!

I got my little Focusrite Scarlett Solo in today, scored it off ebay for I think 72 bucks.
I tried plugging it in and recording.... It was working, but my phone was also still using my regular phone mics.... Couldn't switch it as far as I could tell...
So I did 5 minutes of research and ended up downloading an app called: Dolby On
Once I figured out how and where it stored videos... I was able to capture just the external mic thru the Scarlett.

here is my first test.

That's so much more the tone I'm hearing in the room ha ha! I'm amazed how much better it sounds, I teach audio recording at my high school, we use a Scarlett in one of the small studios every day.... I thought I knew what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised.

If you are using iOS (iPhone), there is an order to set up an external mic interface with the stock camera app.
Open the camera app, set to video(do not let it go into sleep mode), plug in USB interface(if the interface requires external power, make sure it is already powered up), hit record on phone camera app. USB interface channels 1 & 2 will default to left & right channels on video.
I’m glad you found the Dolby On app though, seems you’ve found a work around.

Does that mean I won’t get that 80s flanger/phaser/chorus/who the hell know what that effect is?

Mitch you need to get an interface pronto.
I am willing to bet your playing recorded through a proper mic would sound AMAZING.
If you pick up the interface I have, you won’t even need a computer or any special app or software. All you would need is a couple of adapter cables and your phone. Maybe a 9v battery if you need phantom power for your mic.
If you are interested in something like that. PM your uncle Vito (aka LiveeviL, aka Live, aka Evil) and I will help you out.
Oooooorrrrrrrrrrr ….. This might call for a “LiveeviL Presents…” You Tube video.
