FRIDAY NIGHT RIFFS

Except my good sir. You’ve all but suggested the only thing a telecaster is good for is firewood. I have two of them. You see where I’m coming from? And that….. is not on me.
Well, that was joking around and if that offended you im sorry. Ive had people teasing me with pointy guitars “you’ll poke your eye” , “ good luck finding the case” , “you need tele caster” and so on….

Dont you think I know what I want or prefer or know how to play guitar? But I never took that as a insult but rather than guys joking around back and forth.

People are so sensitive these days….

You win. I’m just a clueless cranky old guy. I have joined in on some of the Tele teasing for sure. Of that I’m guilty. I apologize and will curtail that practice. But I have never dissed anyones choice of guitar they own. Regardless brand or body style. That includes the pointy ones.

I take that back. I might poke fun at the Himalayan Salt Block guitar that was posted in another thread. That one’s really pretty odd.

FWIW, I’ve always heard the term “GG” (Grandpa Guitar) to mean telecasters and Les Pauls or other single cutaway shapes from the pre-Super Strat era, particularly ones without the modern finishes/hardware you see in newer guitars. IIRC, it’s just an extension of the old “this isn’t your father’s Buick” saying, taken further and applied to guitars.

And, as Chili mentioned, it all seems like guys ribbing each other, which guys do when they’re friends. Hopefully no one is honestly getting butt hurt over this… so many real things in this world to get upset about, whether someone else thinks your guitar should get an AARP discount really shouldn’t matter.

Meanwhile, this thread is so insanely off the rails that I’m begging someone, anyone, to post some riffs and pull it back. Please.

Its not about win or lose, we come here to joke around and hang out…. We tease each other but its never with ill intent thats what friends do and never need to explain as you know its never with Ill intent.

Some here said specific brand were better than others just because its specific brand…. Not gonna say what brand but you probably guessed it…

My point is play what you like and buy what you like but don’t expect others to feel same as you do, (that includes me too).

People like what they like for various reasons and you cant change that.

Grandpa Guitar if I understand the originator of the term and even inventor of this topic within this Friday night Riffage thread. It all stems from @Ramo dislike for Teleradios, and especially brown guitars. Hence his term Grandpa Guitar.

I went to play some of my GG's after midnight and they all said they were too old.
So, I had to play my Edgy Jackson RR3 V guitar instead.

When you said after Midnite Chilli, this what came to mind...
