I’d say after 4600 posts of riffs and comments…. I’d say it’s quite a successful thread. Thank you Mitch for getting it off the ground.

I think what got it going was in my first post.
Because I had tried, unsuccessfully 2-3 other times.
But this one stayed alive, and didn’t die on the vine as the other’s did.

And we all have been contributing to its health.

I'm thankful for everyone and anyone who has contributed to the thread in one way or another, from discussing riff ideas to hearing what other people are doing and getting some inspiration from what others have came up with. It's very humbling to see so many great musicians to remind me of how many thousands of miles I am still far off

Today's ramblings working through the descending part, can't decide if I like the note, the chord, or the weird chord for that part...

My vote is for the single note, and then toss in weird chord once in a while or maybe every 2nd time around for some embellishment, maybe add a flatted 5th/tritone for some evil sounding dissonance...in any case, the power chord is the one you shouldn't go with IMO, as it sounds more rudimentary vs. more complex, to my ears. The weird chord makes it more interesting to listen to IMO

I really like the weird chord descending.
It’s also cool if you build it on each descending run.
If that were a song. Going root note, chord, weird chord gives it a build up and anticipation.
