Yep, if he can do that for you, go for it. Once there are strings running over, they won't be visible.
 
Welcome, Ray. Now for all who know about frets. What are the primary causes of the dents in frets? I have never thought of any method from my normal playing that would cause this. I almost think I'd have to pull the string up and suddenly release it to make a snapping slap against the frets, or beat down on the string atop a fret to make dented frets.
 
Cause of dents in frets? Soft metal, mainly. You won't dent a stainless fret in a hurry. After that, much string bending on just a few notes. In short, the same reason as the dents in the wood.
 
I’d get the frets done and not worry about the fret board. If you’re pressing hard enough that the divots affect the tone you are pressing too hard. Look at it as very mildly scalloped fret board :)
 
Thanks Don n Kerry. Yeah, I know that if I press that hard it is bad technique. True Don. You and I do think alike on how we analyze and make conclusions on things. The Stainless frets were in the front of my mind, and I can also see how lots of bending, and vigorous playing is likely to cause flattening and wearing down of softer metal fret tops. I just was really clueless about dents. I can see them forming if one takes the strings and has years of rapid small side to side bending actions which essentially bite into the soft metal to start an erosion.
