Fret Level WOW!!!

Glad it came out well Robert!
I do what DonP says as well, and continue by repeatedly applying Sharpie marker to them all to more easily view progress.
I think I spend the most time and caution verifying that flat plane.

Your shop lighting plays a big part in what you see; I sway back and forth a bit to view the fret surfaces at different angles, especially useful during crowning.

There are a lot of good tutorials out there, and some not so good.
I got the bulk of my procedural basics from a tutorial by Ron Kirn over on TDPRI.

Even after doing several I take my time and proceed with caution.
I have one upcoming same as the AXL LP build thread RVA has in progress, if I can get that pesky truss rod free.

I'm a novice!!!!

Yep Ray has the skills - front of the pack here among us DIY guys; the pros like DonP and Biddlin' are in another class altogether.

comment...she always says she can't tell a difference....maybe because its easier to play well on it now???

Yes, that was my point.

If you think you can't swim, but you are in the shallow end of the pool then you will swim a width. But, if somebody points out that you are actually in the deep end, you probably won't be able to swim a length back again...

Tada! I don't see why homeostasis should not incorporate external factors to a limited extent.

I agree, but suggest more than just a limited extent because our bodies and actions are always situated in and mediated by an environment.

As jtcnj said, I learned here from those better than I. DonP guided me step by step behind the scenes. I am only trying to pay what I have learned forward.

Don has also shared his wealth of information with me....but I think I bugged RVA a lot more than I bugged Don...

OH!!!! And get this...although it played well and buzz free at .038"/.040" unfretted action @ the 12th, it played and SOUNDED better at .060" on both bass and treble sides!!!!!

Hackmaster has me beat by 10 miles. However, he could be considered a pro if he wanted to charge.

Now to level my 29 year old Squire with it's tiny, vintage frets...figure I need a 1mm crowning file....and I'm guessing a 9.25" radius????

Lookout! Robert is revved up like an Evel Kinievel stunt cycle toy from the '70's!
