Francis Buchholz, Scorpions bass player RIP

I went to my Facebook this AM and saw a post from my friend Gregg. He was posting about the passing of Francis. Gregg is the lefty bass player/ part time roadie for Schenker, who sold me his former Epiphone V Bass that was signed by Michael Schenker and band mates, including Francis Buchholz. He included a pic of himself with Francis.

Wow, sad day. Another greatly appreciated musician passed. So many great songs.
I did have privilege of seeing him live with Schenker and back when the Scorpions finally debuted in the US.

On a side note. I was watching this clip of Scorpions in Tokyo, and notice some odd looking pickups in Mathias Jabs guitar. Kind of like a P bass type pickup but in a guitar. Anyone know what the heck I am looking at?
