On Kauai, The chickens and Roosters that wander though the jungle, are protected species. These are "Kauai Jungle Fowl."
It is interesting to wander through the rain forest, and too encounter wild chickens and rabbits in the wettest jungle.

View attachment 40799 A Kauai Jungle Rabbit. Although the first time I saw it, I thought I was having a flash back. As you probably already know, rabbits are not normally found in rain forests or jungles. Thankfully and much to my own relief, the rabbit cannot fly.

we have 3 rabbits too---I always forget about them......
 
I think the one I posted is somewhere in N. Swampnecksitan ...... or South Georgianna someplace GULF COASTAL ish -- the spanish moss in the Bkground gives it away
