    SOME FELLOW FROM CALIFORNIA
Tonight I put my money where my mouth is. I have a bunch of nice Gibsons, though they are all mostly older. Every new Gibson I've tried has left me with something more to be desired. So I bought a new Godin. All of the Godin's I've tried or played have been better made; i.e. better fretwork, setup, fit and finish, hardware, etc.

I read a thread around here recently about whether or not MIA affects my buying habits and well yes, it does. That said, my Canadian friends consistently are putting out awesome guitars with no issues and because of this,I see no reason why my money should go to any other manufacturer. I'll have a new XTSA burst on Friday. It weighs in at 8lb3oz.

I'll post pics and a further review on Friday when I get the guitar.

    ;)

I'm pumped.....I'm so very tired of companies that are not living up to their name. So, changes will be made

A thread on another forum from 9 years ago...gotta hand it to ya brother, that is acievement-level Gibson-bashing!
First thing that I took note of was the “2011”...the great era of alternate fretboard materials for Gibson, and many tears from those that were deep in to the cavernous depths of tradition...and resistant to new ideas.(I own two Gibsons from this era)

To this thread in general...
Look, I’m not in to bashing as a past time...I’m open to other manufacturers making cool stuff...
Heck! There are even a couple of Godin guitar models I’d be interested in owning...if I could lay hands on them to try, at least one...once...just to see if the neck, and ergonomics are in my wheelhouse. But, the only Godin that I’ve ever been able to lay hands on was a used 5th Avenue Kingpin that was just not set up in a fashion that I find acceptable. Please take note that I do NOT slag Godin for the 9.5mm action, and resulting poor intonation I experienced...that’s all set up stuff that probably was done by someone else, after the factory. It may have pleased them, but it annoyed me. I blame Guitar Denter for putting it out to be sampled like that.
Testimonials can be a great resource. Negativity towards one product to elevate another....is not great, to me.

I quit buying any name brand guitar cause i dont like any of them stock and found myself just tearing perfectly good guitars to peices and modding them. Last couple ive just built them out of parts.Partscasters i guess there called. I enjoy building, modding, monkeying with guitars.

Big lesson ..couple months ago..got so pissed at gear sites,,,the redundancy of non making music aspect of it..over & over trivial repeat crap,, i can walk 40' back to my set up & pretty much debunk any of it

before the internet..we played..what we had & it worked..

key thing was..we were players...playing..recording..then shows..there was no time for negativity..i find the Gibson bashing 1000000% inspiring...i turn off the computer everytime for a week or so & go make a batch of songs...slowly but surely ..less & less influence of theory & BS on sites fades & i focus on what matters..what the hell these things are for...making music
&

the band website is getting more time spent..the people are digging the music we making,,,,,not 1 question of what wire gauge,,,headstock label...where..who.. & what does joe blow play at .ooo5 watts oon a great tube amp & then bitches it doesn't sound right....i see it as a way to drive off people who totally love this thing called music & give the best input they can..no biased towards any gear..but to the tone it makes..down to the mic position on the amp,,gotta be honest..pretty dissapointed..i thought if you posted strait up results..it would help...nope. people will go on & on..even after a great example of an a/b comparison ..until the herd mentality gangs up to give it a gear site blessing of hate, its a shame..any Gibson haters out there..my dime,,,come on over,,,i will pay for it all..hire a nuetral back up band..play what ever you want first .. i will comp for you..hell pick the instrument bass..guitar drums..on the spot lyrics for the song..lets do jazz..metal..rock..country ..cabaret..i will do it with an SG & DSL50 just to show its all BS,,,total BS... then you comp for me. lets go..lets see how bad Gibson is...

You know @BFT Gibson ....I have to tell you....you just taught me how to express the way the brand bashing makes me think/feel: I’m not interested in what people “hate” trying to make music with, and thus don’t...I’m much more interested in what people “like” making music with...if it was easy...if it took some skill/modifications...etc.
Thank you for that.

...oh, and for sharing the details that you‘ve shared about getting your stuff done. That’s huge to me.

This quote used to be my signature:

"Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now."- Jol Dantzig
Wow!

That's a metric ton of perspective, right there.

Very true.
And Jol Dantzig knows a thing or two about a proper guitar... H - A - M - E - R! And the Lord knows how I love my Hamers... :love::dood::cool::celebrate::2Thumbs::flash::nice_guitar:

Shameless plug brought to you by syscokid... he he he!

You know I would if I could, I would even bring a couple of my own Gibsons to boot.
Music is where it’s at, and if we could get Norm to bring a couple of Godins , I would love to play them as well..
