Thats one of my top 10 favorite muscle cars ever built. I know what my #1 is but the rest i couldnt rank definitively.

I've always been a Chevelle fan. Had a '64 Malibu SS, '65 Malibu SS, '66 Sedan, and a '69 Chevelle. Had a few Chevy trucks, a van, and a Monte SS. Still have a bunch of '64 and '65 Malibu interior and trim parts that I'm trying to sell. Had them on CL for ages, but no takers.

Loved my '64 Malibu SS, and would love to have another. I miss that car. I would somehow try to sneak a '62 Impala SS with a 409 on that list.

That’s a pretty awesome list. My preferences has always been the 68-70 muscle cars, especially almost anything 1969. I had a 318 powered 70 Charger. Nothing special.... but killer looks. In no particular order.

68-70 Dodge Charger
70 Dodge Challenger T/A
69 Vette - LT-1 engine
70 Mustang Boss 302
Olds 442
68/9 Chevelle SS 396
427 Shelby Cobra
And yes..... an AMX

Read an editorial on the 427 Cobra. Back in the day it was the fastest 0-100-0 car on the road. The editor doing the story was riding shotgun. Said when the driver dumped the clutch, he wet his pants..... when he hit the brakes, he wet them again.

Those were awesome times for us gear heads. Nothing sounded better on the street than a cammed up big block and Thrush or Cherry Bomb mufflers.

1970 Boss 302, I love this car always have, in this very colour. Here you go iblive! They just sound hot, and they look just FANTASTIC!:2Thumbs:

When i was about 16, there was a car show in the next town over and two cars stood out well for me: a cherry red 1971 Nova SS with an unbelievable 502ci aftermarket engine that sounded like a damn battle tank coming down the road lol and a beautiful white 1970 Mustang Boss 429. I remember looking at the Mk4 heads on the engine and it they looked like small block engines themselves from their massive size lol the car was actually for sale at a nice affordable price of "only" $72,000

Never had much interest in the Boss 429. Engine had some reliability problems. The 302 was a Cleveland block and dead nuts reliable.... and willing to give you good HP for not a lot of cash. Also the weight difference. The Boss 302 could turn corners. The 429 was really good 1/4 mile at a time.
 
Yes Cleveland block was reliable. The 302 had lots of guts for its cubes, I wouldn't hesitate to take the 302. I had seen a video of a guy putting it through its paces on a track, it got m y blood pressure up.

I was 50% correct. In 69 and 70, Ford used the Cleveland heads (with some modifications) on an existing small block. The Cleveland block apparently was released in 71.
