For the hot sauce lovers...

I recently bought this one. Just because it’s made by Michael Anthony (original Van Halen bassist). But it’s actually really good. Pretty hot and a very nice fruity flavor.

I used to shop for the stuff with the highest Scoville unit measurement and then see how much I could handle. I think I topped out at around 3 Million
Can't do that anymore...but the meds my doctor has me on do allow me to spice things up to a lesser degree...maybe 100,000 once a year.

I like my peppers and to be honest I think for me it's not that I'm a hot-sauce/pepper lover when I think about it. I think it's I'm a pepper lover and if the peppers or pepper sauce tastes good to me I deal with the heat. But, if it's just hot with no real flavor (and there seems to be a lot of hot-sauce like that) I don't use it - if that makes sense...

Sometimes I’ll use a dash of some hot sauce one of my friends will make to add to the flavor of a dish. I also like to add some fresh garlic with it. I like hot to a certain degree, but my wife doesn’t. Therefore, I’m using it more of a flavor enhancer.

It is fun watching some of my friends, and seeing what degree that they will try to outdo each other for pain.

Oh I love my chilis and sauces. I've got some homegrown ghost peppers and some Carolina Reapers from last year still in my freezer waiting for some foolish idea to wash over me lol. I don't care much for the flavor of the superhot varieties. The heat is good, but the flavor kinda sucks. I would have to call any of the habanero varieties possibly my favorites. They are hot, no doubt about that, but they also have good flavor, kinda sweet. Almost fruity, but still peppery. As far as sauces go, I like loads of different stuff. My most recent acquisition was called Oblivion. It's a salsa verde (green sauce) and it's delicious. I picked it up at a show a few months back.
